Well, well, well. I have read all of the listed posts regarding Johnston Mill Lofts and i must say that they are humorous - to say the least.
I do agree with the dog issue. Unfortunately, there ARE a lot of dog-owners that do not clean-up after their pet. I mean, i have seen poop in the hallways and on the sidewalk. That is definitely unacceptable! CLEAN UP AFTER YOUR PETS!
There are indeed a lot of parties on the weekend, but i can't say that i have been annoyed or in anyway affected by the noise-level. Maybe i happen to live in a less-noisy part of the building, but i have no complaints on that. Many college-aged kids are attracted to the loft living and are living here. If you are married or have kids, you definitely won't be comfortable here.
Management has been nothing but professional and respectful towards me. With management, i think it's all on how you approach them. If you come across "rude" and "ghetto" then, more than likely, they're going to be "rude" towards YOU.
If you're going to live here you are going to HAVE to purchase renter's insurance. It's just a necessity. The building is EXTREMELY old and mishaps are bound to happen. And if i recall, management mentioned (several times) to me and my roommate that purchasing rental insurance is highly recommended.
The walls ARE paper thin and you WILL hear your neighbors having sex. That just comes with the territory...if you're the type that's freaked-out by that, Johnston Mill Lofts are definitely NOT for you. Yes, i agree that the walls could be more insulated.
Johnston Mill Lofts is a very nice community, but it is located right smack in the middle of the ghetto. So, if you are one of those timid, fearful females who are easily frightened - you might want to scurry over to Whisperwood or Greystone Farms.
Overall, i am very comfortable living at Johnston Mill Lofts. Management could be a bit more "selective" of who they rent property to, but other than that...it's all good!

I am a young female and in no way am I frightened but the truth is the truth. The management is rude and does not care about the residents. I can even smell the ciggerette smoke from the people underneath me... no excuse for that!

I was working for the CPD the entire time I lived at Johnston Mill lofts. I pulled up all the "problems" that had occured there before I ever signed my lease. I hate to break it to ya but every apartment in Columbus has the same issues as JML. And when you're living in a loft apartment with concreit floors and pipe holes....you're gonna smell the smoke from underneath you. You can't rent out some 2,000 apartments to only non-smokers. What is the management suppose to do, require them to quit because their upstairs neighbor dosn't like it?? And as far as the management goes...they are all women, they are doing the best that they can. They have to listen to complaints all freakin day long, and you being a young female (rentloft82), haven't you ever heard of PMS?? you try running an apartment complex with some 2000 apartments and maybe 10 office staff. I know for a fact that there were 3 notices from the time i moved in until i moved out about them cracking down on animal waste. And as far as them not caring about the residents, I had one of the staff come to my apt in the middle of the night to change my locks because I had ended a bad relationship and they still had a key.
