Okay, so I've been reading the terrible reviews that have been posted lately about JML. Seriously, people' Come one, give it a rest. Can we say exaggeration' Yeah, so here are my thoughts about the comments I've read so far dealing with the place.
My partner and I have lived here since December of 2008 and we love it. The staff has always been courteous to us, especially Joyce (she's a doll!).
One comment I read is that during the tour the staff "WILL DELIBERATELY NOT" take you to see the gym or the pool. Okay people have you EVER heard of asking' Sure, we had to ask to see the gym and the pool, but when we did, Joyce graciously agreed, and we saw it for what it is. It's a pool! It's a gym! You're really not going to find much better anywhere else in Columbus (especially for the price).
As far as maintenance goes, they are pretty much on the ball when you need them to be. Okay, if you have a minor problem that will not cause any damage to anything or any one, it might take them a tad longer, but overall, they're here when you need them. Our air conditioning unit has frozen over a couple of times. Both times we placed our work orders, and both times the maintenance guy came up and fixed it (THAT DAY).
Safety: I've also read that many people have issues with the safety here at JML. Personally, I think that unless you're looking for trouble, you'll be fine. Yeah, there's a few guys hanging out (outside, not in the hallway as one person claimed) from time to time, but so what' I personally don't like staying in my place 24 hours a day (minus work and school). Maybe these people should hire a bodyguard to protect them since they're so paranoid about everything. But no, we have never felt threatened in any way while living here. Sure, I've seen some tenants here that I'd probably not want to associate with on a personal level, but I've seen tenants like that EVERYWHERE I've lived. (I came from Greystone Property, BTW (MUCH MUCH MUCH more expensive)- so yeah, that's everywhere).
The parking lot, to be honest is a little smaller than I wish it could be, but once again, I saw it when I came for the tour (Okay people, are you going to say that the staff hid the parking lot from you during the tour, also') and ultimately, we made the smart decision of staying here.
We're trying to save up a little money to go into a house, eventually, so for the price we pay here, this place is a palace. For those of you who want peace and quiet ALL THE TIME: either live out in the country somewhere (far far far away from people) or go back in with mommy and daddy because it doesn't matter which apartment community you choose, you're going to have some noise.
Pet feces: Yes, while living here there's been TWO times that I have seen pet feces in the hallway. You cannot blame the staff for a few nasty tenants. As a matter of fact, my partner and I noticed that letters were put on EVERYBODY'S door advising these nasty tenants that they need to either clean up the mess their animal makes or be evicted. So, I have to say that I HAVE noticed the staff work hard to make sure that this does not continue. They really are wonderful people and if, perhaps, you give them the chance, you may come to realize that, as well.
Bottom line-
EVERYBODY THAT CANNOT TOLERATE JOHNSTON MILL LOFTS: YOU NEED TO BE SECLUDED FROM HUMANITY, BECAUSE IT'S OBVIOUS THAT YOU JUST WON'T BE HAPPY ANYWHERE WHERE THERE'S PEOPLE. STOP WHINING ALREADY AND GET A FREAKING LIFE. PERHAPS SOME FRIENDS MIGHT HELP. mgFDbN4-dhkSMZ7zRmVH
