I've been here over 6 months now and I still think this is a great place to live. I feel so sorry for those of you that are soooo unhappy. I think some people create their own misery and wouldn't be happy anywhere. What is it that you expect' No one ever told you this place was perfect. They sure didn't mislead me in any way. The problems I see and hear about are with residents,not management.
There are over 300 apartments here, I think they do one heck of a good job. Everyone here works together to try to create a pleasant living experience. The rest is up to you.

Wow, another very happy tenant. That's awesome to be able to read nice reviews from tenants who live here. Even though the majority of these reviews are very negative, those reviews are from the tenants who have a lot of negativity already in their lives and they are trying to put the blame on Johnston Mill. Me and my partner have lived here since December 2008, not very long, but we are very happy we decided on Johnston Mill Lofts. Our experience has been a very good one also. On another note, these negative reviews are more than likely from those tenants who were evicted, and probably owned those pets who have been using the bathroom in the hallways. Those tenants just happen to ruin this place for everyone possibly wanting to live here. Those tenants are just too damn lazy to clean up after their own pets. They should get rid of their pets if they are too lazy to clean up after them. Again, I would like to say Johnston Mill is a very nice place to live. If you are looking for luxury, go to one of those very expensive Greystone Properties. Or better yet, buy yourself a house in Green Island Hills. This is an apartment community, people tend to forget about apartment communities, they all have their ups and downs. You can't satisfy every single person. And better yet, Johnston Mill has income based lofts as well to benefit those who are less fortunate. Did Johnston Mill have to have income based lofts? No, but they are trying to allow this place be well affordable for any income. I think that's great. Yeah, we have the occasionally druggy roaming the hallways, but druggies are everywhere. Even where you may least expect it.

If the title of my review hasn't told you enough... read on. Lets start with the tenants; Drug dealers, bad parents, bums, and other non working free loaders. The first mistake the property did was allow the income based houseing. This is an invitation for scum, now not everyone on the housing program is, but a majority are. There is a few hard working people and military affiliated indivduals, those being the exception, but still the minority. Parents let there kids roam free causeing all kinds of chaos. Skating down hallways knocking on doors at 2 in the morning. Its even more fun when school is out for the summer... kids come out of the woodwork. Pulling fire alarms, playing with dog feces by throwing it on walls, doors and anywhere else they decide. I love coming home from work to about 6 people clustered outside the main doors smoking cigarettes and other illegal smoke able items. My second favorite is seeing the underwear of half the delinquent tenants. On several occasions while walking in I was offered the sale of illegal drugs. Things tightened a little when they hired a full time security guard, but the property is so big, it is in a since usless especially since they sleep in the truck most of the time. There is always someone pulling the fire alarm at all hours of the morning, usually from 12 am to 4 am. Lets look at the claimed amenities of this site. Someone took the liberty of stealing the TVs from weight room as well destroying a majority of the equipment rendering it useless. The pool is closed 9-10 months out of the year, and not cleaned regularly so the pool is flat out disgusting. The parking lot is constantly riddled with trash and the dumpsters are always full promoting stray cats to range the property freely. If you are brave enough to step off the sidewalks you are guaranteed to step in dog ---- as it is everywhere and you're going to be pulling fleas off your legs on the way in. The entire building has a german cockroach problem from all the filthy tenants, they need to add that to the amenity listings. Knology is under contract with site and their service is intermittent at best. The internet reaches dial up speeds most of the time and the cable service is terrible and very very expensive for what you dont get. I am now paying 45 less a month for the same thing with charter and havent had a single outage in 4 months. The management has changed more times than I have changed my oil. And has been going downhill since. They are extremely rude and will quickly get loud and hostile. Its really funny because when the manager is there, they are very nice, catch any one of them with out management, and its open season for trashy means of conversation, but hey, you hire trash, you get trash. The only good things about this place is that I dont live there anymore. After 4 years, this place has gone from a nice place to a Gated Ghetto.
