Review from a tenant, not a staffer impersonating one.

I have lived at The Lakes apartments for 1 year and am about to move to move out in 2 weeks heading to Atlanta. The lakes are a -fair- apartment complex, but so far all I've read are reviews from people that were obviously written by staffers.
Let's start with the good: The apartments are spacious (1500 sq. ft 2 bedroom) on my apartment and on the newer 2 bedroom apartments. The layout is nice and our apartment comes with a space saving microwave above the stove, which I'm going to miss when I move. All of the apartments have screened porches, which goes a long way to making your porch actualy useful. The complex has 3 connected "ponds" that have turtles, a couple of ducks and some catchable fish. There is a nice walking trail that goes around these ponds. The grounds are kept clean, and the maintenance staff is friendly.
Now the bad: The office staff is hit & miss. I've dealt with some friendly members and a few who I could only imagine in my nightmares. Parking spaces are directly in front of the buildings and the road going in and out of the apartment complex is so narrow at places that cars have to take turns going through them. Even though it would be fantastic to have an apartment facing one of the ponds, sadly, most of the apartments in the complex aren't on pond. While I haven't seen any violent crime in the apartments, I have twice witnessed a vandalism where people have gone around the apartment slashing car tires. I don't know if such a thing was perpetrated by delinquents who live here or if it has to do with the location. Next, water pressure. I've lived in 7 apartment complexes (soon to be 8), and the water pressure here is the lowest I've ever experienced. Taking a shower is a chore because it takes twice as long to rinse the soap off. Every Saturday at Noon, there is an air-raid siren that goes off for about 2-3 minutes. This would only be annoying for some. Last, dog poop. Although I like the walking trail it seems that many canine-owning neighbors of mine completely ignore the rules about cleaning up after your pet.
In summary, the Lakes apartments are a nice enough complex, but it is by no means the holy grail of living that some staffers would have you believe.
