I have lived in The Lakes since the summer of 2003. The first apartment was the smaller 2br apartment. The noise over there was horrible! I could hear my next door neighbors' music playing and their conversations. The walls were just too thin. The parking was very inconvenient. If you got home after 6pm you would have to park in front of another building (which felt unsafe at night). We were on the third floor and heard our neighbors' (right below us) baby cry hysterically every single night! My sister's car was broken into and also our guest's car was broken into as well. Maintenance was not very prompt when we called the office. What made the situation better, though, was that I personally knew one of the guys so I would just let him know if something was wrong and he would respond immediately. Oh yes, THE GATES ARE WORTHLESS! PLEASE GET RID OF THEM!

Now a year into living there, we were given the opportunity to move into a bigger, nicer apt. We were very pleased with the space. My closet space was serious! However, may we say BUGS! During the summer roaches were inevitable. It was a nightmare! We had an ant problem twice. The second time the ants were in my closet in my clothes and everything! I was ready to go at that point. The noise was pretty bad, because we were on the first floor and you could hear EVERYTHING. Either they walk hard or the walls are extremely thin. This is something I will NOT miss. It also seems like the staff didn't really care about us until we moved into a larger more expensive apartment. The parking over here was a little better but you just can't have a lot of guests because the parking is so limited over there.

I'm not saying don't move here, because there will be something wrong everywhere you go. I honestly enjoyed myself while I was here but I'm just moving on to something nicer and more affordable now.

I completely agree with your comment about the gates!! I wish they would get rid of them, majority of the time they do not work correctly and people who are not residents constantly speak of how they are able to get in all of the time so safety is def. not what the gates are providing. . .I think they should GO as soon as possible even if rent remains the same!!
