Why to live here

The Conservatory is an older property and with that come the foibles of age. There are indeed a few problems, but as you look at places in the same price range in the same neighborhood, you will not be able to find a place that is devoid of these very same problems.
The things that make a difference to me as a resident are the responsiveness of the staff, the cleanliness and safety of the property, the value for the rent I pay, and the demeanor of my fellow residents.
In those categories I can find little to complain about and much to compliment. Beth in the Leasing Office has been delightful to deal with and has worked with us whenever something arose. Despite conversations that could boarder on touchy issues like rent increase negotiations, we would always remain very cordial. The property was well-maintained and the staff works hard to make sure residents are respectful of the common spaces which are kept very clean. My neighbors proved to be wonderful people over the years with only one exception. I enjoyed watching kids grow up, families progress toward home-ownership, careers blossom, and even friends move into and out of the Conservatory happily. All the while, for the square footage, there was not a better place to live in the area for the money.
Also, the stoplight at the edge of the property (which I discounted initially)always proved useful when making a left accross rush hour traffic on North Druid Hills.
I will not pretend that there were not bugs, but whenever I asked an exterminator would stop by the apartment. I will not hide the fact that a vehicle of mine was stolen from the premises, but I will say that despite that fact I remained at the Conservatory quite happily for two more years. I will not say that the gates work regularly, but I will report that the management office is continually trying to make them do so. I will not allege to have never heard a neighbor through the walls, but I will say that we were all respectful of each other and mindful of (and patient with) the everyday thuds and murmurs that did make it through the walls.
For those who can afford to live in better surroundings, I suggest you don t scrimp - after all the closer to downtown Decatur the better in my opinion. But if your price range finds you in the neighborhood of the Conservatory as mine did, rent with the knowledge that you will not regret your decision. It is a wonderful place to live.
