These apartments are not bad. I feel pretty safe here and I like the fact that most are like Townhomes (some are studio). The buildings are old. I think they were built in the 1940's so no dishwasher or dryer hookups nor any locking bedroom doors but everything else makes up for it. I haven't had any major problems. Maintenance has always responded to any propblems and management is fairly good. The walls aren't super thick like I thought. From time to time you can hear your next door neighbor but it beats having to live below or above someone. A few minor things I don't like is the fact that many units don't have doorbells but I got one of those remote doorbells that work just fine. Also, because I have a small dog, I hate the fact that some people (not all) let their dogs run around without leashes. I find this highly ridiculous given that half of the people doing this have really big dogs. Though most of these dogs I've encountered are friendly, you never know what potential a dog has and I wouldn't want my little teacup dog hurt. Also no ceiling fans. I moved here in the Fall so I'm not sure how the lack of ceiling fans will play out in the summer. Guess I'll be running my air conditioner most of the time. I haven't had a problem with bugs. From time to time I see these little tiny silver things crawling up the walls but whatever they are, I had them at my other newer apartments as well. Been noticing a few large flies that are apparently coming through the vents looking for warmth but I keep some bug spray on hand for them. The neighbors are friendly. A real good mix of ages just the way I like it. You have older people, middle aged people and younger folks, likely Emory students. No major problems with parking either nor any major problems with deliveries of any kind. If you are looking for state of the art luxury then this is not your place but if you want to feel like you are apart of a community and you can handle washing your own dishes and walking to the landry room then you might love it. The space is incredible and nothing beats having real hardwood floors in the bedrooms. When I say real I mean REAL! Not that fake stuff! And just so you'll know, I'm a female Grad student in my early 30's. vWhRVi5nYYIuEh4W7K3l

Only management would write such a glowing review. Come interview tenants.....We will tell you the WAY IT IS.

Sorry but I'm not management. You have to understand that this apartment complex is huge. It spans several streets so different tenants will experience different things. I'm quite pleased especially compared to where I came from. Where I was before was great until management started letting Section 8 recipients in and oh my God! Where can I began? Kids were running around unsupervised. Neighbors didn't have any class whatsoever. They resorted to violence to settle issues. What was once a quiet complex became a boom boxed, loud talking, up in the middle of the night fighting ghetto hood. I didn't feel safe and I was afraid to walk my dog. Someone had even been robbed at gunpoint for $15.00 damn dollars and this was a complex in Decatur. So for me, Emory Woods has been nice. Just the way apartment living should be in my opinion. Perhaps it's because I'm low maintanance and being a single female, I've leanred how to do minor home repairs myself. I don't need luxury, I like comfort. Sorry that your experience hasn't been great. Maybe it'll get better. Also, I'm used to living in old homes. I grew up in a home that was built in the 1900's and we still used those old skeletal keys! LOL Perhaps if I lived in newer apartments and had to move to older apartments like these, then my review would likely be different but......I'm happy!
