Horrible experience

My problems started on day one. My apartment was not ready when I arrived from Virginia. My tubs had to be redone. I excused it because it was a quick move. Everything was done within two weeks. After moving in though I saw why the apartment wasn't ready. Maintenance takes their time getting to projects. It took a week for my dishwasher to be connected. The cabinets are old and the apartments are roach infested. I recently had a ceiling leak that was ignored. I went away for the weekend and came back to a flooded apartment. Now I have to deal with the smell of mildew for who knows how long. I am thinking of filing suit because of their neglect. They also ignore the fact that another dumpster is needed on the premisces. It overflows every week and the garbage is all over the ground at the front of the complex. Don't ever rent here if you want to be comfortable. For the amount I pay in rent, I should not have to deal with this.

My apt was robbed two weeks before Thanksgiving while I was at work and my children were at school. The robbery showed no signs of forced entry, and the business manager (you know who he is), tried to make it seem as though my son may have something to do with the robbery. Even after it was revealed to me that management had no account of where my apt. key was at the time of the robbery or thereafter. After losing everything, all Miles Properties was concerned about was when would I be able to pay rent. I asked for a transfer, they denied my request. Judge gave me 7 days to vacate, which was a blessing in disguise. I'd been saying all year that I wanted to get away from that place. HOOD is NOT the word ... you're right about the dumpster, and the roaches ... OMG ... and I had the neighbors from hell ... kids stomping up and down the hallway all day and night. If Daniel Miles is in bankruptcy, good for him. I tried to reach out to him when I lost everything, and he brushed me off to his "officers" that didn't care here or there ... It's true what they say, what comes around goes around!!! If you file a civil lawsuit, contact me. I'd be more than glad to participate.

Miles Properties is in bankruptcy - the property has been sold (Highland Pointe)or foreclosed on, the only thing Daniel Miles own for the moment over there is Highland Estates. You need to move out now!! Don't worry about your credit rating - they don't report it anyway - they are so screwed over there it's funny. The office staff are on a wing and no prayer - they will all be gone soon!! If I were you I would save all of my money and not pay rent at all! IT will take them at least 60 plus days to have you evicted and by then you would have saved enough money to move somewhere else. RUN!!! They will never repair anything timely and the mold and mildew will not go away and you will get really sick! There is a huge mold and roach problem in that community not to speak of the crime and drugs there. That whole strip over there is little Ghettonam!!! Lithonia has become one of the WORSE places to live. Good Luck! RUNNNNNN !!!!!

I was just reading through the reviews because I find it entertaining to read people's opinions about where they live... being that I am in property management. I feel bad for you because you moved from out of state and you probably really didn't know about the area or the community; however, I don't think you were obligated to sign a lease. Honestly, most people (from my experiences) that move into a Miles Property either can't afford to live somewhere better, is currently trying to run from a current eviction or have a credit score that's shot to hell and is trying to build it back up... SO BASICALLY, Miles is your ONLY option when you go there because of the "affordable housing" standard that they have. For MOST tenants of Miles Properties, they've been DECLINED everywhere else and have no choice... SO, they're doing them a favor. Not saying that was your case, because you're from VA. The employees are probably overworked and half the time are just as fed up as you are. They were built in the 1970's... so how about YOU trying to fix up something that needs to be totally redone in the first place, with NO MONEY coming in from the property because -people can't pay their rent due to someone mysteriously breaking into their apartment... WITH A KEY! (you'd be surprised on how many times I've heard that one)- but hey... its your decision on what to do next. If I were you I would talk to the office staff about breaking the lease early so that it doesn't go on your credit- because then, NO ONE will rent to you BUT a Miles Property and if you owe another Miles Property, I'm sure they'll have an issue with it. The rent is cheap and the apartments are old... what do you expect?? Gables Management?? Ramm communities?? Archstone amenities?? I mean come on... You get what you pay for! Of course you're going to have crime, roaches, leaks, and all the stuff that comes with cheaper, and older apartments. I don't know what the cost of living is in VA, but here; a good apartment is STARTING at about $650 for a one bedroom. Either you pay a little more to get what you want, or you deal with it. Properties like that are meant to save money and build credit... that's it.
Honestly, Highland Pointe is the best community within that price range that I've looked at... the absolute best of that class.
If you want peace, you have to be willing to spend a little more. That's my opinion on the matter with no offense intended for you, but just a general statement to all who review.

Unfortunatly, they trick you from the beginning. they showed me a great model and when I moved in it was a totally differnt story. The Anonymous response earlier does not know what he is talking about. My husband and I do not have any evictions on our credit. Even if we did that does not make us so unimportant and low that we dont deserve a safe place to live. When we saw what our apartment looked like we went back to the leasing office to get our deposit money back. They told us that it non refundable. We was stuck since nobody has 300 dollars to just throw away.

Its funny how renter's all these wanna talk smack AFTER they have recieved keys and moved in.....why take occupance in the first place if thats how u felt? Why wasn't all this said BEFORE you signed your lease. Were you speaking negativity when you were homeless and NEEDING somewhere to go? Miles Properties gave you a roof over your head, obviously when nobody else wouldnt, and NOW you decide to flap off at the mouth. When you and your familes were down and out....at least Miles Properties rented you a place to call home, and look at what you do in return? You get what you pay for. Thats just MY opinion. signed A concerned Reader
