No responsibility for lost packages

I have been living in this apartment for over 2 years now and I lived with good neighbours and location. But the incident that just occurred has made me so bitter that I had to write it down somewhere -
My package was scheduled to be delivered yesterday, and I went to the leasing center to check if it had, after my office. I didn't find it there and then went to the house and tracked the package. It said that it has been delievery at 1:30 pm. I called UPS thinking that they delivered to some wrong address. It had happened couple of times with me. But they confirmed that they had delivered to the right address and somebody named DOBBS had signed for it. I called my leasing office again and inquired about it, the lady there said she does not have any package for me in the leasing office. I asked her who DOBBS is and she said it is her! I asked her then where is the package and she said she does not know!

The next day UPS called me and confirmed that they had talked to the driver and he says that he delivered to the correct address. I called up Paces Park Apt again - and they said they do not have the package. After that I called up the owner of the Paces Park Apartments, the Investment Realty LLC. I talked to a lady called Lisa and told her the problem. She said that she will get back to me after talking to DOBBS. I called t-mobile meanwhile which had sent the cellphone to me in the package and asked them if they can trace it. They told me that it is not in use as yet and thats all they can do for me.

Evening comes, no call from Lisa. I walk to my leasing office again in the hope that they will at least be a little responsibility towards the loss. Instead my attention was brought towards the lease. They told me - "According to the lease, we are not responsible for your package loss". After hearing this - I just walked out. Then why in the first place you sign for it!! I called up Lisa again and she told me that she will get back to me tomorrow after talking to DOBBS.

So t-mobile has sent it, UPS delivered and DOBBS picked it up. But DOBBS is not responsible for it and hence I have lost my package.

Waiting for tomorrow. I am sure there have been better experiences but this is

I agree with this posting and all the other negative ones about Paces Park. Recently, after living here for 4 months, Property Manager Charlotte Dobbs called me to accuse me of not paying last month's rent; then sent me letters claiming I paid this month's rent late and gave me less than 24 hours to make "full payment" or Paces Park would be "forced" to start eviction proceedings. The office has twice refused to accept my rent payments, then called them late and charge late fees and concession paybacks. They claim you have to pay your water bill with your rent bill, but don't bother to give you your water bill in time to pay your rent on time! This kind of practice sets up tenants to pay "late" and lets them claim you owe late fees. This property management office is the worst experience I have ever had in many years of renting. I have to say that until Ms. Dobbs entered the picture, the incompetence level of the office staff was annoying but tolerable. Many of the individuals there are pleasant and well-meaning but the direction is poor. They also have other ridiculous policies like: if you move from one unit to another within the complex, you are hit with a $500 fee! They actually penalize you for staying with them. It makes no sense and goes against every commonsense principle of customer service. They put all their effort into getting people signed up and then either ignore you or treat you badly. There must be better places to rent in Decatur!

i so agree, i moved in july of 2005 and thank God im moving out this month. since ive been at this complex there has been at least 3-4 different groups of management companies to this complex. that is NOT a good sign. when i started out there my rent was 749 it is now 955 and if i stayed it would be 995 are you kidding me!!! i live in a one bedroom there are no real amnities, the computer lab they had i repeat had the computers were never working on the rare occasion i stopped in to use them, if you want good residents to stay there should be an incentive and there isnt. And another thing the type of people they are allowing to move in is scary and i no longer feel comfortable, and they are not the most responsibe in the office , they do Lose things, What happened to Customer Service. there are better apartments but you have to be patient and look, im moving to another one i thougt would be ok but ive already had trouble, the answer: BUY YOUR OWN HOME, thats my plan for next year.
