I would NEVER recommend anyone to live in ANY apartment complex in the surrounding decatur area. It is not just this particular apartment, IT IS THE AREA! You have a mentality of people who do not understand anything outside of their box.
I was a tenant for 1 year. I have to say I never had a problem with the landlord or maintenance crew. There was a good and honest attempt to keep the grounds maintained. The problem was with the tenants. There would be tras strewn everywhere. No one cared enough to throw their own garbage in the dumpster!
Right in front of my apartment, I saw 20-30 guys walk in and out of a man's apartment daily. I suspect there was some drug activity going on.
I have never been around a bunch of grown men who did not work! During the day, when everyone was workingm these men would be standing outside doing nothing. During the night they would sit on my car. When I told them that I did not like this type of activity, they saw nothing wrong with this. This scenerio happened time and time again. I felt very unsafe. I had to hurry up and move because I knew it would be a matter of time before someone broke in to my apartment.
Oops! I forgot. There is a bug problem as well. I would see on average 3 mammoth sized waterbugs (look like black roaches) daily in my apartment. It got so back that I could not sleep at night for fear of a roach dropping on you at night.
If you are looking for a good environment to raise your children in, this aint the place or AREA to live in!

Guess what,,,the same mess is still going on...in checking all of the Decatur Apartments... the same mess is pretty much going on everywhere. Me thinks the ghetto mentality folk have moved from the projects into Decatur and the surrounding areas...bringing the quality of life down. Not everyone black is ghetto or street, walking around with pants half off the butt and a boom box to the ear... there are some people that actually want a nice quiet decent place to live... 2007 and the same mess is still going on? Whats up with that?
