I rented an apartment back in November of 2001. I did not have an attorney present when signing the lease. The property manager told me that to be able to terminate the lease early I would need to give 60 days notice. My lease is up at the end of October 2002. I would like to terminate at the end of September 2002 and I am told I will have to pay the October rent anyway. My lease is worded so that I did not understand that. I would recommend a lawyer to look over the lease before signing. The building that I live in is very noisy, police have been called, fighting and arguing in the breezeway, and fighting and arguing coming out of apartment across from me. Dishwasher doesn't work. spots on carpet when I moved in. Too many people appear to be living in one apartment. Electricity often goes out during the night so if you live here you must have a battery alarm. Management is not willing to go the extra mile - they do what is required. Before you sign your lease and move in, management appears to be very helpful. Very large turnover. The whole time I have been here, someone is constantly moving in or out. I have definitely lived in better places!!
