We have been living here for a little over a year. During that time period their was a grace period to pay rent, the first through the third. Dealing with a certain someone through the entire time, we were able to pay rent on the fourth day before. For those who go out of town...it WAS understandable. Well, on the fourth of July we of course were out of town. On the fourth business day (note they were closed on the 4th) we were slapped with a $250 fine.
We go to the office to speak to the MANAGER and she did not come out of her office and just yelled "If it's late it's late!" End of story. Very professional. Sadly we paid to avoid be turned into the Gwinnett Police Department and having an extra $300 added on to the fine.
Well, a few weeks later I happened to be looking through our lease to read the guidelines of breaking our lease because this place sucks and come to find out our lease said it was a 88.50 charge to late rent.
I called instantly and asked for their corporate office number since the MANAGER did not have "the time" to speak with us before.
***WARNING**DO NOT ASK MANAGMENT FOR CORPORATE'S NUMBER, YOU WILL GET NOTHING BUT ATTITUDE*** (Hint: it's on the website)
Turns out that no one knew who "forgot" to put the part about a "consession fee being lost if rent is late". (They couldn't even explain to me what that was, they just knew it was owed to them if it were late). This all happened on the third day of the month (the last day to pay rent which we had already paid). She then told me that if I did not come within the next hour (before closing) to get the check for the full amount and rewrite a new check for the new amount that our rent would be late!!!! Ridiculous. That means I had to leave work early to come help fix their mistake.
Even in this situation neither manager nor assistant manager came out of their office or invited us in to talk about the situation and make ammends. They had an assistant relay messages back and forth between us when we were standing at their office and could see them. RUDE.. Professional managment right' The only time I saw the MANAGER and spoke to her face to face is when she handed us the new amount to write the check for. I told her to read people's leases first before slapping outrageous fines on them. (because they might have "forgotten" a certain, very important part, for random tentants.

MORAL: ANY fines that you may get...be sure to read over your lease and even save letters sent out to you because they don't know what they did or are doing and they make the rules as they go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This isn't the only thing that has happened.

I agree! The management is LAZY they work their poor leasing agents to the bone but they never do anything!

Not true the lease we have plainly states rent is late after the third. It does not say accept holidays. Sounds like someone should pay the rent on TIME!!!!!

You bet! The lease each one of us signs states the grace period until the 3rd, not when ever we come back from vacation-whatever!
