I can count on two hands the number of places I have lived in the metro Atlanta area in past few years and I must say I have never, ever, received my security deposit back after leaving a lease.
Is it because I have pets'
Because I have wild parties and I let my friends draw on the walls' No.
It's because most leasing companies/ offices are too lazy or too crooked to actually access the residence and issue what is owed to the person who lived there.
Autumn Village is the first place that did that without having to be called constantly for status. They did not ignore my phone calls, if fact, they called me for my forwarding address within two weeks of my move date. They did not make up any crap about having to bring it $500 an hour professional clear or having to pull and replace the entire carpet.
Though some money was taken out for turnkey maintenence, the amount was completely valid and reasonable. And again, I didn't have to do a thing and they returned my portion of the security deposit within the 30 days.
Other leasing companies should note that it makes everyone's life easier when you do the proper actions after such a relationship ends. And just like I am doing now, former residences will commend and recommend to others.
