My wife and I moved in to Preston Park 2 years ago. For the first 6 months everything was great. Clean community, gym equipment that worked, neighboors you didn't fear might kill you, you know the things you look for in an apartment. About a year ago things started to change, aparently the credit and criminal checks were getting expensinve and they decided not to do them anymore. You can guess what happened, welcome to the East Duluth Ghetto. You can now expect you car to get vandalized at least once a month. It's also common to see 4 police car in front of a building as they arrest someone for theft, drug labs or worst. Nobody respects the property, especially the gang of teenagers that has broken all the equipment in the gym, spray painted cars and breaks the gate less than a week after it's fixed. If your thinking of moving in, don't just run for your life before its to late. Don't even think about breaking the lease unless you would like to pay $4,000 to the friendly leasing staff. Your also not supposed to have dangerous dogs like pitbulls but the staff doesn't care, I have to walk my own dog with a bottle of peper spray in case one of their idiot owners decides to walk their "friendly" dog without a leach.

How is it now? I stopped by to have a look, I'm looking for an apartment. Everything looked really nice, is it as bad as most of these reveiws?

It's not as bad as the reviews make it out to be. I just moved in in May, and haven't had any problems to speak of. A couple of cops live on the property which is kind of cool. And, they have a security company that patrols the complex. I have to live in the Gwinnett Mall area, because of my job and, I can tell you this. Preston Park is the best, if not nicest apartment complex I could find in this area. Gwinnett isn't what it used to be. So, I was relieved that there still is a decent complex around at all. The ONLY problem I have encountered is parking, and kids hanging out in the gym and propping the door open all the time. But, the park area is gorgeous, the complex is clean and tidy, and the maintenance staff is great. The office people have always been friendly and helpful as far as I'm concerned. Trust Me, you could definitely do far worse than Preston Park. It's a very nice place in my opinion.

Its true that you could do worse, there is always Iraq and Afghanistan. We moved out about 2 months ago after our contract expired. Some of the office staff like Ashley are great but they have no control anymore over who moves in or the crime. Less than a month before we moved out our next-door neighbor was broken into in the middle of the day. They just kicked his door in and stole everything. My mom was in our apartment at the time looking after our baby but thankfully she listened to me and didn't go out to investigate. The area of Gwinnett is simply not safe anymore. I have several Gwinnett police officers that are customers and will not live here even though they get free rent. If you like graffiti in your car, broken gate and non-functioning gym equipment to go ahead and give it a go if not find someplace else.
