The crime situation has gotten so worse that we are afraid to go out even in the daytime. THUGS park right in the middle of the road honk and yell out to people in the apts. One renter got car jacked at gunpoint INSIDE the complex! Homes and cars get broken into about once every two months. Mail boxes get broken into weekly. You can just walk by and see open boxes and mail scattered on the floor. They take what they want and leave the junk mail for you, lol. The carwash is not functional for over six months. The pool area stinks of marijuana, and dont even think of going in the gym restroom. The gates work fine but lot of the problem people live in the apt so what good is the gate! The staff are mean and dishonest with a fake smile. They have a no-disclosure policy so its your responsibility to ask and get all info in writing (if they tell you). They are like used-car salesman and always try to get higher rent from you than what others are paying. Your lease renewal will be 10-25% higher depending on their mood at the time. Expect to pay $190-$230 monthly for power, sewer and water. This is for a two bedroom apt with four people living in it. My sister living in a 4-bedroom house pays less! Oh, and the roaches... thats another post!
WARNING: Read the positive posts very carefully as some of them are written by management.

lmao these posts crack me up. I'm not management, and I love living here. This website sends me updates whenever a new review gets posted for Chatelaine. I considered unsubbing from it, but it the reviews from all these kooks that claim the positive reviews are all from management are just too enjoyable to pass up. I've lived here for a year and a half now. Unless you're an idiot that got a first floor apartment, then this is a great complex to live in. If you willingly chose to move into a first floor apartment IN ANY COMPLEX, you're a total fool. Those floors will always have pest problems and are the most vulnerable to break-ins. This is a great complex to live in for the money. I recommend it to anyone that has a modest budget but wants a pleasant complex to live in. All of the neighbors in our breezeway are very friendly and know eachother. I'm not gonna sit here and say I'm never concerned about the potential of my apartment being broke into - but that's a problem with apartments in general. If that's such a major concern for you, then you shouldn't be living in an apartment. Anyway, <3 these reviews. Keep'em coming. Stupid renters complaining about typical apartment life. What the heck did you expect from an apartment complex? Chatelaine still remains probably the best apartment complex on Satellite Blvd - the only one better is probably Gables (I think that's the name) across the street, but it's much more expensive.

I have to agree with the original poster. They tried to get us for higher rent than we said we wanted to pay when we were looking to move into the place. It started out with a phone call that it was $945 for a 3 bedroom on the 1st floor. When we went in, it went up to $1010. Then it kept climbing, all the way up to $1050. We told them no thank you. Then, all of a sudden, they offered a $500 credit and would take the rent down to $1010 .... it reminded me of a used car salesman. It sounds like we dodged a bullet by not moving in there. Oh and for the record, not all first floor apartments are filled with break in's and bugs. We live in another Duluth apartment complex and could not be happier with our first floor. It's clean, no bugs and every apartment on the first floor is pre-wired for an alarm.

stonecs1, thanks for the input. I saw your other post but it says outstanding! Can you not change the rating after its submitted on the site? People need to know the dangerous bait-and-switch games they play at this apt. It becomes very difficult to change once someone signs a contract.
