Gone down hill after Connor Group took over

I am in my 3rd calendar year here and let me tell you, it sucks! My first year it was under a different company and they were great. Repairs were done on the same day requested, usually within an hour. The maintenance staff were very nice. Trash was always picked up. ONe of the maintenance guys came every sunday to compact the community trash because somebody dumps here. Now, that is all gone. Repairs, when they remember to come do them, usually take days. The few maintenance workers here seem a bit unsavory. Even the residents have gotten a little bit questionable.
The old company, before Connor took over in Jan 2005, did thorough screening of residents, and wouldn't take someone with a felony conviction. I sincerely doubt that happens now. I am convinced that there is drug selling going on in the laundry facilities, of which I am glad that I don't have to go to. The staff is very unfriendly, with the one exception of the very sweet Black lady in the office. (I can't recall her name.)
They have continually cut office hours. While I appreciate that they sign for packages, you have to leave work, and rush home to get there before the office closes at 6pm, and 50% of the time, they have closed by 5:30pm. There is always trash strewn throughout the complex and I never see anyone going around to pick it up.
And there are TONS of kids here. I have nothing against kids, but the parents don't seem to pay any mind to them, such that you have tiny tots playing alone in the street or parking areas. The older kids are very close to looking like thugs and won't move out of the middle of the street when you are driving through.
And lets not forget the bugs. I was told that it was hard to keep the bugs gone when I moved here from the north, and they will come in and spray, but it is almost impossible not to have roaches. I haven't seen any sign of any other type of rodent, thank goodness, because I don't trust that the company would do any good for it.
And speaking of trash, they refuse to put in a camera at the trash dump. And, even though this is a quite huge complex, there is only trash area. So, someone is dumping here, especially on the weekends. SO what DOES this complex do, put notes in everyone's mailbox to "do not leave trash at the trash area if it is full." Hello!, what the h*ll you want us to do with it, keep it in our apartments, or on our front path, so that we can get even more bugs.
We pay a fortune for water, which is supposedly to include trash pickup. So schedule the darn thing twice a week! I have actually had to plan to go to work late on a Friday morning so that I could dump my trash before work since they empty the thing on Thursdays.
THe water bill is based on square footage of apartment. So, if you are one person, living in a 2bedroom, you will average 60$ a month in water. My friends pay only 30$ every 3 months for water for a family of 5! The old company charged a flat monthly fee based on number of occupants, which was about 30$ a month. So, if you are like a lot of the residents here, and have more than one family living in an apartment (something the last owners did not allow, but I guess they do now), then you will have it made. All of the single people are footing your water bill.
And then to make matters even worse, they had the audacity to raise the rent this year over 50$!!! For nothing. They say that they have worked hard to beautify the property with new painting of the buildings (talk about half-a**ed and ugly) but the old company did a much better job.
Honestly, the only reason I am still here is that it costs too much to have someone come in and move me, and I will be leaving this area in a few years, so not worth spending that money.
On the bright side, the apartmens are very spacious. I have a 2 bedroom and both bedrooms have a true walk-in closet. There is a fireplace if you like that. The noise is pretty bad if you have neighbors who like to boom-box, which I do unfortunately. But that is likely to happen everywhere.
And, *most* of the residents are nice. It is about 90% hispanic, not that that bothers me, but if it does you, then look elsewhere.
Oh yeah, and it is MURDER trying to get out of here during the day. Traffic backs up and turning left on PIB is almost impossible. And get your mail during daytime hours because there have been two lights burned out at the mail hub for about 6 months now.
In closing, I say stay-away. Spend another 100$ and go somewhere nice. I wish I had. :-(

Yeah, I got some lame email back from Wanda, no response from the others, that most of the reviews on here are from delinquent or evicted renters. Funny how all of the reviews say that they can't wait to move out. It really is a shame because the apartments are so spacious, and the premises were so well maintained under the old company. I did check the police report before I moved here and it was quite reasonable for the time. Now I should check it again I guess. Anyone have the infamous Mr Connor's email??? |

I have lived her for about a year and 6 months I have never had a problem and I love my apartment. The new maintance staff is great since Resource who are the owners took over the property. Things have been getting much better. We have bran new amenities now they are doing a great job. You just can't please everyone. The problems they had in the past is in the past let's look toward the future. This is 2008 there has been plenty of changes from 2006 to now.

The posting from Anonymous on 10.27.08 is obviously from a staff member. The new "management" wants to appear like they are doing better, but they are not. They let too much riff-raff move in, and do nothing about noise complaints. I was sooo happy to move out, until I got a notice from a credit collection company about monies dued, with no explanation. I have tried repeatedly to contact HB with no response. I stand by my word, do not move into this complex. It will take years to get all of the bad tennants that the former management allowed to move in out. (the first management company would not allow anyone to move in who had a felony record.)
