Their square footage is misleading! Read to find out more!

My wife and I were in the market for a larger one bedroom apartment. We currently live at Amli at Milton Park and we love our apartment, but at 847 sq ft, we decided to look for something a little bigger.

We visited the Reserve at John's Creek and the staff said that they have a large one bedroom that is 980 sq.ft. We were excited, as this is over 130 sq.ft bigger than where we are now for the same price. They also said they were having a special, but that it was a limited time offer. My wife and I did a walk through of the apartment and everything seemed nice, so we filled out the credit application, paid $50 for doing that and also paid $150 as an administrative fee.

Once we got home, I looked at the brochure that said it was 980 sq.ft and then looked at the room measurements and started having some doubts as to if it was as big as they said it was.

I called and inquired and after being quite rude, they said they would check on it and call me back. I got a call a few hours later saying that the living space was only 790 sq.ft and that they had included the balcony in the square footage quote to equal 980 sq.ft.

This is very misleading and not normal business practices for quoting square footage. Square footage is based on heated/cooled areas, not balconies or garages.

When we realized that our furniture couldn't fit into 790 sq. ft, I immediately called the manager the next day to cancel everything and to void both checks for the application fee and administrative fee. She said NO WAY and that that would never happen. I asked if I could have the number to corporate and she said that they cannot help me. After many minutes of asking for the number to corporate, she finally gave it to me. Corporate called back a few days later and kept our $50, but did agree to give back the $150 application fee.

If they are this misleading and RUDE when we are prospective renters, think of how they will treat you once you have a year contract with them!!!
