Dunwoody Gables
< | >
I lived at Dunwoody Gables from April 2006 - May 2007. I moved due to 2 reasons: 1. I wanted to buy a condo.
2. I would have had to move anyway becuase the rent for a 1 bedroom became to expensive.
I had their smallest 1 bedroom and during my lease I paid $695, I received the renewal option letter about 2 months before my lease was about to exprire and the new rate for a 12-month lease was going to be $795. I could understand a $20-30 increase but $100 is robbery.
My new one bedroom condo is just as nice as the apartment I had at Dunwoody Gables actually it is about 90 sq ft larger and my mortgage payment is only $563 $130 for the monthly condo association. My mortgage is a 30 year conventional so my payment is locked for 30 years. I just looked at Gables.com and they have 3 floor plans like the one I had and the pricing is listed between $825 - $905. I don't know why anyone would pay that for a small one bedroom apartment! It is an okay complex but certainly not worth that kind of money. Of course there are all of the usual apartment annoyance. My experience there was fine, but not for what they are charging now. Also, the staff can be somewhat jarring at times depending on their mood. They are there for marketing, once you move in they would prefer you not bother them.

My condo is in Tucker, off Pleasantdale Rd. It is called Bentley Place. I have a top floor one bedroom and so far I really like it. The area is certainly not the best but it is ok and was affordable to me. The complex its self is pretty nice and well maintained. I would definitely recommend a top floor only so you don't have to worry about someone walking heavily. You should get a real estate agent to show you some places because you can definitely afford a condo if you can afforde to pay the rent at Dunwoody Gables. I like Bentley Place because it is only 2 miles to 285 and 85. Don't keep giving your hard earned money to Gables.
