I lived in building 2424 (center of complex) from May - August 2007. It was HORRIBLE. I wouldn't wish this place on my arch nemesis.

First of all, coming to East Point I thought it was an up-and-coming, quainter town of Atlanta. In reality, it's a ghetto that has a reputation for being one of the worst - if not the worst - part of Atlanta (especially 10 or more years ago).

The area is very unsafe. You won't get a break from hearing sirens or screaming or seeing sketchy people walk around outside at all hours of the night. Not to mention you'll hear gunshots about 3 times a week on average. I also had someone who jiggled my doorknob a couple times at night, trying to break in. Forget this place if you're a single female who's going to be by herself; you'll be accosted on the streets and inside the complex endlessly by loser, desperate, and sometimes dangerous men.

As for structural problems, the list is pretty much infinite:

- the workout room in the leasing center is a joke; there is one treadmill and one general weight lifting machine along with some free weights.
- the parking areas are in terrible shape and look just plain revolting.
- out of twleve washers and dryers, you'll get lucky if two each work
- cheap hardware on the inside that is poorly affixed, including crooked cabinets
- cheap, stained carpet that is not cleaned before you move in
- an abundance of bugs - especially roaches. I had to sterlize the kitchen every night to avoid turning on the light and seeing them scurry around. Even if I left a sponge out, they nested on it.
- awful, uncared for, cheap bushes in the front of apartments that sit on dirt
- very thin walls
- very, very dated dishwashers and stoves, and the fridges produce a strange odor
- dumpsters placed right in front of the apt's, often overflowing with vermin/stray cats around them
- NOISY as all get out: aside from safety-related sounds, I could hear my neighbor's TV every night and the the band who practiced below me from the hours of 12-3 a.m.

If you're going to rely on MARTA, forget it. The buses there are very unreliable, and it's not uncommon for one not to show up. They're also usually late by 5 minutes or more. The station is about a 15 min. walk away, but no one in their right mind would walk through downtown East Point unless they were just released from prison and can defend themselves. Pepper spray ain't gonna cut it.

The staff experiences very quick turnovers and maintenance doesn't do a thing for you. If they do, they charge for it.

We have a new manager now and better pest control. We just finished a renovation on the exterior and this really is a great place to live.. Come check it out!
