Let's give you an update on good ole' Oakview Place Apartments. The people are malevolent, the maintenance crawls, and the noise is abominable. The rent is inexpensive but here you get what you are paying for. Also, the walls are paper thin meaning there isn't any insulation between the walls that seperate the "homes" in the multi-plexes. Believe me, I know; there was a hole punched in my living room wall. You can hear your neighbors conversations or hear what they're watching on TV.
If you're white, you won't fit in here; point blank. There are shootings down the street. After you hear them, you get the story on the 10 o'clock news channel & learn that they were half a mile away from where you live! The apartments across the road are full of sex offenders & drug dealers. What a great place!! I have been here just a few short months & I cannot wait to leave.
Recommending this place to anyone would not be an option. The management shows signs of being relatively incompetent. They try to put everything in their mind instead of on paper. The mind thing doesn't seem to work well with them.

This is true. I lived at the Oakview Place Apartments for about 9 months in 2006 while my husband was in AIT. I definitely didn't feel safe living there alone, to say the least. I heard gun shots many different times. You can't leave anything out on your balcony or some one will steal it. It's very common for groups of people to walk up and down the street in front of your apartment all night. Yes, the walls are definitely thin. I used to could actually hear when my upstairs neighbor took a bath (not just when the water was running either) when they used the restroom (I could literally hear the guy urinate, it was disgusting.) The maintenance guy they have up there does a half a** job. I had many problems with my thermostat, he'd run out to the maintenance room and get some thing for a quick fix and then it would break again. As for what was said about if "you're white, you won't fit in here" I guess I can agree with that. Violence problems in the area aside, Africa.n Americans just aren't as friendly with white people in the area. It's just mostly a black community, and it's rare if you can go to a restaurant and they're actually friendly to you. Not saying they're all like that but for the most part they were rude. No smiles and "have a nice day's" in Hephzibah, all you get is your food tossed at you and the window slammed in your face. Not a good area to live in, period.
