There have been a few things that I do not like here, but overall, the problems are less bothersome than at other places I have lived at.
Yes, there are bugs, not roaches, but centipedes, really creepy ones that travel across the walls and ceilings. pest control does not get rid of these because they come from outside through the pipes and under doors. I see them crawling outside often. I have had a scorpion in my bathroom, I am assuming it got in through the plumbing holes under the sink, but it WAS scary. I thought about taking the dead scorpion and giving it to management as a gift, but I didn't think they would think that was funny. There have been bursts of "pill bugs" the rollie pollies, and silver fish, those pincher bug things. But , these epidemics seem to occur parallel to weather changes, and I realize that some insects are HARD to regulate, especially living amongst the trees and pinestraw.
Sometimes college age kids are a nuisance, but not often, and I generally never hear any partying going on. When the pool first opened, it looked like the scene for a 50s beach movie, there were college age and highschool age kids falling out of the yin yang, which was a daunting environment to take my kids swimming in. I was made to understand that most of those people were there because of some residents breaking the rules about the 2 guest limit.
There are rude drivers in the lots, and that has been a concern of mine, I am very careful with my kids, as many drivers do NOT stop for pedestrians, or even slow down.
The biggest annoyance I have had has been receiving a notice on my door for my neighbors garbage being left out. When I complained about the notice, I was dealt with as if I were lying because I hadn't tattled on my neighbor. I was sent an email stating that management would waive the fees as a "one time courtesy", which I found HIGHLY offensive. I expect more respect than that when I live here, and care for my home, as if it were mine. It is unfair to pit technicians words against residents' words, there never should be accusations thrown unless there is evidence, and since the blowers had come the day I received the notice, they very well could have blown her trash around. I invite management to inspect the contents of garbage left out to prove accusations when there is a discrepancy. I am the type of person who readily owns up to mistakes and attempts to make restitution, but I am also the type who gets hostile if wrongfully accused.
The office staff are very polite otherwise, and genuinely seem so, which is a big plus. The grounds are beautiful, I feel happy when I come and go.
I do think the playground could use some updating, but really, all these things are superficial. I do like living here, and I am sure most people would. Compared to other complexes, and other neighborhoods, this is a great community, and everyone is generally pleasant and quiet.
The electricity is also great, I leave my thermostat at 66 sometimes, which is not conservative, but my bill is rarely over $90. Last summer, I paid over $400 sometimes for electric in my large house, to keep the thermostat at 75. The benefits really prevail.
The apartments are clean, I would not trust the recent reviews saying they are dirty, maybe that happened, but I REALLY doubt it. This place is immaculately clean, I have never moved into a home I didn't have to clean immediately, and this apartment was incredibly clean, to my standards, which are very high.
