Lease Breaking

As an assistant manager for apartment communities for the past 4 years I can tell you that lease breaking no matter where you go is painful. Something that people dont want to think about is the fact you have signed a contract to stay where you are for the length of the lease. This contract is just as binding as buying a car or a house. If you break the contract on either you have to pay.
Standard lease breaking terms are: 60 day notice (this gives time for the property to start getting ready for show), 1 months extra rent (helps pay for getting the apartment ready for the next resident and to help recoup the lose of rent that will occur from the lease breaking), and then paying back of any specials you have received (you dont think you can get something for free for doing something then change your mind without having to give that gift back' What planet are you from').
So yeah its rather painful to break leases as it should be. You are breaking your word so the property should be back what they gave out. If you are buying a house well have the cost rolled into the mortgage. I have had many residents that have done that. Its not that hard to do.
