Cheap and roomy!

Years at this apartment: 1999 - 2000
I lived there 1999 - 2000. It was my first apartment out of college, and I found it to be a great place. My apartment was HUGE and came with the nice (but unusual) commodity of a screened in porch. Maybe I just had quiet neighbors, but the only time I could hear anyone was 1) when I was on my porch and someone else was talking on his porch (can´t insulate a screened in porch from noise!) and 2) when someone was outside my door. This second instance meant I often heard my neighbors coming and going as our doors were all very close to one another, but I should add I could only hear them if I was in my living room (i.e., near my door). I feel that the walls were well insulated but the door was of cheap quality.
I don´t recall having any serious maintance problems, and those that I had were typical and quickly fixed. Parking is ample for both residents and vistors. You may not always get to park directly in front of your apartment, but you will get to park in that lot somewhere.
The complex was not the safest as it was not gated and the rent-a-cop security guard had a wide area to cover. I never felt unsafe personally (i.e., as if someone would attack me or had areas in which someone shifty could hide), but someone attempted to break into my car (but did not succeed) once, and management told me that there had been a rash of attempted or successful car break-ins at all the complexs around there. To be fair, though, people had their cars broken into at my college the year before, and it was in a very nice neighborhood (just north of Buckhead area) and gated. I feel like any apartment complex, even if gated and such, is a magnet for auto break-ins just because of the high number of cars in an area all together.
To address others' complains: 1) I never had any problem with any staff, but I never spent much time around them, either. 2) Yes, the appliances are old, but you can't expect brand new stuff for this price. Look at brand new apartments in the area and how much more expensive they are. 3) The trash bin was full or overflowing on Sundays as that was the one day they did not empty it. On other days I did not notice a problem. 4) Again, I never had significant noise problems, but I would like to add that I've never lived anywhere that was absolutely sound proof. Even in the house in which I grew up I could hear my father snoring when I was several rooms down. 5) Turning left out of the complex was difficult at certain times of the day, but at the worst, you just turn right and turn around down the road. I didn't have a problem with it most times.
Overall, I would highly recommend Water Vistas to someone looking for a cheap and spacious apartment. It´s not the most modern or pretty place, but it serves its purpose well. The only reason I left was I moved to another state for grad school. You cannot compare this complex to one that costs $200 more a month. If you are a professional who has more money to spend on rent, you may also be happier somewhere else. However, it was well worth the money at the time I lived there. The neighborhood (city-wise) is nice and is convienent to lots of things in the north Atlanta area. For those on a budget, it's well worth a look.
