I've lived at Wellington Ridge for 1-1/2 yrs. When I first moved in the staff was courteous. Wow, have things changed. They're fast to take the rent check, but slow and uncourteous with other matters. I'm friendly with other residents who have noticed the same negative changes within the office and grounds. I've always gone in to the office with a hello and a smile and have received evertyhing from the 'you're bothering me' attitude to the downright rude from one particular girl in the office. I have been in there to see her with the same sour look on her face towards others many times as well. The front office is a very people-oriented job. If you don't like people, get out of there. Have also heard stories from other credible residents about the lack of reception and caring about many matters.

The front gate is a joke. When they first sent out fliers announcing that the apts. were becoming a gated community, I thought 'great, added security'. Was I sadly mistaken. The gates are horrible. First of all, there is only one entrance to the apartment complex. The gates are right by the front office leaving lines of cars trying to get in during certain hours of the day and sometimes all the way out to the main road (29/l'ville hwy - which is next to impossible to make a left turn out of during business hours as well as be prepared for a wait turning in with the oncoming traffic). The complex is too large to have one entrance with a gate. There have been many times that the visitors entrance (weeks at a time)when the gate was wide open and not operating, however, to get out of the community you have to wait for the pathetically slow gate and arm to open to let you out. I pitty the person who has to get out in an emergency. Then, there's the matter of the residents portion of the entrance. They use proxy cards where you have to roll your window all the way down and extend your arm out the window to scan your card. Not only is this extremely inconvenient if it's raining heavily outside (prepare to get soaked as well as your driver side seat and floor board, but it's also a bigger security risk than not having gates. Imagine coming home late at night (keeping in mind that once you swipe your card, the process of the gate opening is extremely slow), rolling down your window and sticking your arm out and someone approaching your vehicle. At the point where your car is up to be able to swipe your card, there is no fast way to turn around and get out of there. All of the other places I have seen with gates have had remotes for residents so that you can click the remote when you get up to the gate and not get wet, or mugged. Although I'm sure the intention of the gates was a good one, it was an extremely ill thought out plan. Also, they have it written that only people who signed the lease can have gate cards... so, if you have children who need a gate card (especially those with teens who work and have different hours than you do, be prepared for a fight and a lot of incoming attitude. And, if the gates intention was for security, how come I come home to find even more outside flyers on my door' Obviously people I don't know and who are not living within the comunity are making it to my door. Don't be taken in with the illusion of security.

It's a real shame, because the apartments themselves are very nice. Albeit, they've used some cheap materials and it's not the best insulated place I've been. But, overall they're decent and nicely laid out.
