After viewing an apartment, I ask about the crime rate. I was told crime isn't a problem at Wellington Ridge. In the week that I lived there several cars were broken into and I noticed in the evening the streets looked more like the hood than an apartment complex. The last straw was when the police subdued a criminal at gunpoint behind my apartment. My son and I awoke in the middle of the night to the sound of screams between several suspects and officers who apparently ended a foot chase behind my apartment. After dragging the suspects to the ground they were cuffed and taken away. The next day I terminated my lease and moved. I lost $1300 plus to cost of moving twice in the deal but my son's safety is worth more than that. Take my advice...stay away from this place if you are a single woman, married woman, have children, or if you are a smart man. Plus there is a bowling alley directly behind the apartments. Just check out how many times per week the police have to go there because of some dispute. Oh, I almost forgot the gate stopped working the day after I moved in. It was still broken when I took care of my balance almost two weeks later. So much for a gated community.

I have been considering moving ova there & I'm having mixed feelings and urs is the most recent.So how exactly is the property now if u don't mind me asking b/c I'm moving away from a bad situation and I don't wanna get back into one b/c I have a child.N how r the schools?Do there b alot of break-ins into apts or cars?

I have lived here at Wellington for over 2 years. The office staff is great to myself and roomate. We are from two different nationalties and they treat us both with respect. I am at home alone occassionaly when my roommate travels however I have never had a problem. My neighbors are a mix of all nationalaties and backgrounds we all get along great. I have never had my car broken into but as a person who works in the industry it happens everywhere, every complex, but here nowhere as often as others. The schools are some of the best in Gwinnett.

I second this persons account. I am not a disguised staff member like passi30044. Also, in response to passi30044's comment about the schools, one simple look at Berkmar High School's educational ratings on GreatSchools.com will show anyone that Berkmar is only second worst to Meadowcreek HS in all 16 of Gwinnett's high schools.

The same thing happened in the first week that I moved in. The police were responding to a domestic situation and they had to pin the suspect down. This was back in the fall of 2006- so things have stayed the same. Good luck and I hope your new home will be everything you hoped for.
