I first moved into Highland Greens in the winter of 2003. I figured it was a step up from my place in CLarkston and for a while I thought it was, until I moved from #394 to #37 for more space. I realized then that I lived with thugs and hoodlums. I saw more unattended children and frequently came home to the smell of marijuana in the air. I NEVER allowed my children to play outside without me being in attendance. My neighbors fought and argued in the streets every weekend and I even thought I was being chased by the police! The straw that broke the camel's back was when my neighbor was robbed. After discovering this, he decided he wanted to parade around the building with his "sawed-off" shotgun. That was it for me. The representatives in the leasing office were low-class and did not provide customer service, so I moved and found a home in a better neighborhood where my children can play and not worry about being abducted!!!

so right...children were running the streets everywhere unattended. I've seen ages as young as 4yrs on the street with no supervision. When I took my daughter to the park I would see babies at the park by themselves because their older siblings left them to go play in the neighborhood. What horrible parent would send their 1 or 2 yr old child outside to play with kids. I was usually the only adult at the park. I stopped bring my daughter because the children's language was too fowl at the park and my child getting high off the smell of weed while playing...this place is so disgusting and dilapidated in the apartments that i NEVER invited anyone to visit my home...

I lived in highland greens also from May 2008 thru 7/31/08. I broke my lease and moved out because there were always people hanging out all over the place, I was never able to take my son to the pool because it was "too ghetto". There were wild teenages swimming with their street clothes on all in the pool. There were used condoms on the ground around the rental office. At night there were always big waterbugs all over the front of the bldg and flyin thru the patio windows. So I was never able to leave the open at night. Not to mention that you paid for trash and they only dumped it once a week and it was always overflowing. Also, the security gate was always open to gain access to the complex. The size of the apartments are great but all the other madness detracts from that. The rent needed to be lower;they asked for too much money for one to have to live in the hood.

My first year in Highland Greens was great and so were my neighbors. When the police officer that lived in H.G. left (he did not play);it was a wrap. My home was vandalized twice. I could not use my side door b/c it was nailed shut. My son, to this day lives in fear of someone taking his things; he doesn't want to leave the house. It had gotten to the point to where robberies where happening every other week. When it happened to me again the police officer advised me to move b/c it's just going to happen again. Then someone attempted to rob my neighbor; he gets a gun and just starts shooting..OMG!, I could go on.. Someone tried to sift my gas from my car, breaking my gas cap. What did it for me was when someone robbed my son at gun point on his way home from the store. I thank and praise God they didn't shoot him b/c he had no money. When I started looking for places to stay I was surprised at the response from the property managers like 'Oh you need to leave' 'that's a bad area' or 'hurry up and move; it's only going to get worse'. It makes no sense for a place to have a reputation like that. And if I got into the staff or maintenance at H.G....yeah (no words).
I'm so happy to say that I no longer live there or near that area.
