So glad to be gone!

Where to begin... I'll start by commenting on each section of the review:
Parking. One of my least favorite things about Belmont. There are approximately 14 apartments per breezeway, and only 11 spots or less to accommodate those apartments in some areas. One of the men staying in a one bedroom near our apartment had 2 cars and usually left one sitting in one of our 11 spots for days at a time. With my job, there were times where I would not get home until 11 or 12, and when that happened I had to park sometimes up to 4 buildings away from my breezeway. When I asked the office about this, they offered no solutions and basically said that was something I would have to just deal with. Also with parking, when there would be the occasional space on the side to park in, we would have to walk through dog poop that was NEVER picked up by pet owners or grounds keepers.
Noise Level. One of the few things I didn't have much to complain about. Well, my neighbors through the wall were having sex at 5 am one or two Sunday mornings. Also, they had frequent parties during the summer that were DJ'ed and the noise was extremely loud from that. Overall, not too terrible though.
Grounds. Not as impressive as they claim. The sign out front says 'Apartments and Gardens', but they must be hiding these "gardens". There are flowers in the entry way, but once you get in the gate, nothing but a few green shrubs here and there. We were also told there would be a nature trail when we leased, but that never happened. They did love to have dancing bunnies, flamingos, and men dressed in tuxedos dancing to try to get business. That's not exactly what I wanted my rent money to pay for. If they're "luxury" they shouldn't have to sell themselves out in such an embarrassing way. I was ashamed to turn in some days when I had a dancing rabbit at my front gate.
Safety. My personal space or belongings were never in the way of harm, but they claim it to be a gated community, but anyone can walk right in through the office area, or to the side of the 1st building. Also, there was a run down chain link fence along the west border of the community, and on the other side was a number of extended stay lodges. Not what I would call comforting. The gate was broken routinely and for long periods up to two weeks. When the gate did work it would allow up to 5 cars to easily get through before closing. The office staff was not very welcoming of complaints about it.
Construction. Overall not terrible, but the detail work was terrible. The drywall stripping was cracking and separating from the wall in numerous places even when we moved in. Not what you expect from a brand new apartment. The painting was pretty messy, especially in the upstairs balcony area of our loft. The carpet wore down quickly, and we were only there 1 year.
Maintenance. Most of our service requests were taken care of without any trouble. We had an issue with a fire alarm going off at random. They came to take care of it, but the guy who came to do it was not in uniform, and reeked of cigarettes.
Office staff. The turnover was ridiculous. Every time we went in there, we met someone new. We had some major issues with them handling our rent payments. One month, they took out our rent AND someone else's rent because 'our names were similar, and it got mixed up'. That month, they took out over $1700 from our account. The last month we were there, they took out money from our account even though we asked them to stop doing automatic bill pay. Then, the icing on the cake, they took out rent money for April even though WE HAD ALREADY MOVED OUT! Whoever is in charge of the money in that office is incompetent.
We turned in a notice 3 months prior to moving out. No one once asked where we were moving or why we were moving. We were quiet residents, and we had maybe 3 service requests over the course of the year. The only thing we had to deal with the office over was our rent being taken out multiple times the last 5 or 6 months or being charged late fees for their mistakes that took 3 months to fix. Whatever you do, DON'T do the automatic debit payment. If you do, be prepared to have plenty of money in your account at all times when they decide to randomly take out $850 or more when they feel like it.
We asked on four different occasions for any move out paperwork, cleaning requirements, prorates, etc., and we were told they didn't have any such papers. When we did our final walk through I asked AGAIN about such papers. I finally was given a notice form that I should have been given 3 months earlier. The girl just shrugged her shoulders and laughed when I told her we had asked for it many times before. Also at move out, they must not care what shape you leave your apartment in. We cleaned our apartment top to bottom twice before moving out. A member of maintenance did our move out inspection. (Heaven forbid a member of the office care about their residents or where they are moving.) He walked in our door and immediately checked off the entire sheet without looking at our living room, bedroom, dining room or loft. We could have left huge stains or holes in the wall, but he was "new" and "didn't care".
Overall, I think this apartment community doesn't care for their residents except for their "wine and cheese" gatherings. They make it sound luxurious and high end when you move in, but they leave out their lack of effort and customer service you receive once you move in.
