this place is all about recruiting suckers (like my roommate & i apparently) with outside appearances. while east lake promises luxury, it provides what we would expect from government housing. the employees at the leasing office dress well & wear an ingratiating air, but are ultimately incompetent. the landscaping is immaculate, but inside our home, roaches & ants freely wander in because doors, windows, & walls are not sealed. there were holes in the wall emitting a foul stench, and our water had a rank smell resembling cat urine for a really long time. any apartment may have problems, but it is the responsibility of the management to have those problems fixed. the failure of the management at east lake to do this is what causes a problem for us.

the only maintenance request that has been promptly & effectively fixed was when our smoke detector needed to be replaced. we patched the stinky holes in the wall ourselves after maintenance refused because ?fixing the holes would cause rotting?. the management assured us that our water suddenly beginning to smell rank was completely normal. we asked the water providers about the smell, and they told us that the method of water treatment had recently been changed. but they said that the strong smell was not normal and that we should tell the leasing office to contact them for help in fixing the problem. they said the water system probably needed to be flushed. we did ask the office repeatedly to call the water providers, but they never did. the smell gradually diminished to normal after several months.

there is a gap between the door & the doorframe in our apartment that is large enough to allow bugs (mainly roaches & a lot of ants) to easily walk into our apartment. we have asked to have this fixed, but it has not been fixed. we have asked for pest control because it is irritating & disgusting to have to constantly defend our home against the invasion of bugs, but we have noticed no improvement from any pest control that may have been performed.

during a heavy storm, we noticed that our kitchen ceiling started to rain. maintenance did do something about that, but it seems that all they did was just paint over the dripping area of the kitchen ceiling: when it rains we hear water dripping on the ceiling.

it is completely unacceptable that we are having to live in these conditions because of the lack of attention to maintenance issues by the management of simpson property group & the east lake apartments.
