A Truthful Summation of the Poor Conditions

Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2007
I have lived at East Lake for nearly 3 years, and I am looking forward to my lease being up. I relocated to this area from the North and agreed to take the apartment "site unseen". When I arrived, I was unimpressed by the exterior conditions of the grounds and the building--which looked very unsightly compared to the photos online--not to mention the building they were putting me in did not look remotely close to those photos that were online. Apparently there are a couple of different kinds of buildings here. At any rate, the first year was OK. I killed an occasional cockroach/palomino bug, spiders, thousand leggers, etc. I simply chalked it up to the man-made ponds and the poor state of the old building--which are not managed well at all. Then I noticed the number of vacancies increased, and management were moving more students in, and loud, rude people -- some of whom were thugged out and sit in the parking lots drinking beer (all races) and who play loud music with booming bass all night...in their cars in their apartments, etc. When you call management, they don't do anything...they have an answering service who only takes a message and when the office contacts you they are useless and make excuses for your unruly neighbors. Quiet hours are a joke and the walls are very thin--so be prepared to go to bed early and crank up the air conditioning to drown out the noise. Neighbors walk dogs and don't clean up the poo--neither does management, so it's just loads of it all over the grounds. The management's attempt to improve the outside is a joke, as they slap a coat of paint on the stucco and move on to doing nothing. Rent is increased with each year... I have had more than five new neighbors in 2 years...and the quality of the people they let in here have deteriorated. I am ready to go, so ready to go. I have spoken with management about all of my concerns and they act as though t doesn't matter to them...they don't care. I do not recommend that anyone move here--unless you are desperate. Don't make the mistake I made.
