You'd have to be insane to live here

Years at this apartment: 2000 - 2002

I lived at this apt complex for two years and was always very polite and professional when asking management to resolve problems in my unit. They either ignored my requests completely, or did not respond until I had called them 3 or 4 times to ask what the status was. My unit's air conditioner remained broken despite repeated visits by maintenance to fix the problem. I finally decided to live without air conditioning in the sweltering summer heat until I broke my lease to get out of this hellhole apt complex.

I listened to diesel work trucks start up every morning at 6 am right outside my bedroom window because the complex allowed semi trucks to park in the residential parking lot. Residents would have domestic physical fights on premise. Gangs of punks would roam the streets and not move when you tried to drive by. I felt threatened and feared for my safety with the increasing number of people loitering about.

I kept my apartment spotless and yet I was still plagued by ants that even appeared in my closets and bathtubs!! They would come out of the sink drains and bathtub drains and I think that is VERY abnormal unless the whole complex was absolutely infested from the walls out.

The street lights around the parking lots would be broken for months before anyone would fix them. I called management and explained that it was so dark when I walked to my car that I felt unsafe but they told me it was not they're problem and that the city would have to take care of it. I finally had to call the city myself to get the problem handled.

Residents woud change their oil in their cars and dump it in the stream at the back of the complex. I called the EPA several times about this issue.

The rent is very reasonable for a first time apartment renter but I was thankful to be able to buy a house and get out of this slum.
