There are better places down the road...really

The only reason why I'm still here is because I am a student, it's cheap, and I can put up with alot..which is what you will have to do living here. I have had alot of maintance issues with every apartment I have lived in here (I've lived in two seperate ones: a 1BR and a 2BR) and the office staff will feed you a story everytime you go up there.

If you really want to move in here depesite the reviews here is my advice:

- Make sure everything is fixed BEFORE you move anything in and be ready to back out if you really aren't happy. You're first 30 days should let you know if you can put up with it. After your 30 day window is up, they won't fix anything for you if they fix anything at all.

-They really are not kidding about the roaches in the place. They are outrageous, good luck getting rid of them, and good luck finding a roommate to put up with them. They are the german cockroaches that are really small and are in everything. You'll be investing in ALOT of rubbermaid containers and plastic bags to keep them out of their food. Cats and roach baits work really, really well to help keep the problem down. (P.S. They are really slack about the pet deposits, especially with cats...don't pay it unless they catch you.)

- All of the air conditioners in just about every apartment go out every spring/summer and expect to have to spend 2 - 3 months without AC mid to late spring.

- If you have a maintance issue, it's going to take an act of god and ALOT of hassling the office staff and manager. They'll do anything to get you out of their main office, especially when they have potential new tennants in there.

- The further away from the entrance and windy hill, the safer you are probably going to be. There have been several robberies and car breakins here. The people they allow move in here are questionable and there is usually a problem with squaters (having too many people in one apartment). My first month one of my neighbors was held up at gunpoint and I ended up in the ER b/c I had been over exposed to natural gas due to leaks in the stove and heater. I was told my ER bill was my problem. The apartment maintance people never showed up when I called them about a potential gas leak...I had to call the gas company directly.

-The security gate worked for 3 days, when I first moved in in 1998. After 4 years, they gave up and just removed the system but left the gates up for a false sense of security.

-Live on the top floor if all possible to avoid maintance issues of your apartment being flooded and people being able to easily break in to your apartment.

-DO NOT get the apartments with the washer/dryer connections. ALL of those apartments flood on a frequent basis and not well taken care of.

-They overcharge for the gas bill, despite saying that they charge everyone equally. I'm not convinced that they don't throw in the water and trash bills, which they say in your lease they pay for. They really need to be audited. My summer gas bills the last two years in the 2BR are about $40-50/month and $125 /month in the winter.

-They keep saying in the office they want to clean up this apartment complex, but they have a LONG way to go. The apartments have been very overpriced considering their condition and high rate of break ins. The recent specials have been getting the apartments down to the price they really should be rented out for, but don't expect to get the good deal for a second year lease.

-There has probably been 10 managers at this complex in the past 5 years. High turn over in the maintance staff and occassionaly the office staff as well. How fast things get done depends on who's the manager at the time. Every time a new manager comes in...they crack down on the rules for the first few months and things actually get done, but things get lax again real quick and then the same problems arise.

-The weight room equipment never works, despite being replaced a two years ago. The pool rules are not enforced and it's usually pretty slimy within 1 month of it being open. Pool does not open till Memorial Day and closes Labor Day weekend.

My best advice: Take your hard earned money and go look somewhere else if you can afford it.
