My 4 years in Hell

From: -Anonymous-

I moved to "Sludgefield" right after the 96 Olympics--it took me and my wife 4 long years to finally save up enough money to finally buy a house, thus not only ending the nightmare of Sedgefield, but breaking the rent cycle 4-ever.

At first, the place was alright to live in; our 2 bedroom town house was clean, everything worked, etc. Soon, the class of people there began a fatal downward spiral as more and more foreigners moved in, clogging the parking lots with 3-4 cars per apt. The laundry facility was frequently locked (no way for residents to use it), and when open the machines were filthy (how can you expect to CLEAN your clothes in dirty machines').

We decided to purchase a washer-dryer, but when it was delivered, the guys couldn't find a dryer vent anywhere! Sedgefield's ad said "washer/dryer hook-ups", so I call the office, and they give me a plastic shoe-box thing-a-ma-jig that you fill with water and attach to the end of the dryer vent pipe--talk about hot as hell in July! My solution was to install my own dryer vent, complete with concealing soffit (I'm a cabinetmaker), thus improving the sow's ear of an apartment. They actually attemted to charge ME for this professionally done improvement!

Another bee in my bonnet was when I installed a 3 x 5 foot AMERICAN flag over the front door (remember, its a townhouse) on a standard 45 degree pole. I was very proud of my humble home and patriotic. Well, within 2 weeks a letter from the office was taped to the door telling me to "remove the flag, as it may offend the foreign residents". Not only did I not remove it, I sent a letter questioning the mentality of the office staff, after all, this is America, and if the foreigners are offended then they can move back to their own damn country! The flag stayed.

The parking lot was always full of defiant street urchins (man, how I wanted to just FLOOR it sometimes--know what I mean'). Our 2 cars were constantly getting scratched by kids playing, riding bikes through the cars, and partyers sitting on them (everyone's car was subjected to these damages).

The maintenance crew was totally clueless: the AC was always overheating, due to a bird's nest built inside the exterior unit. The nest was left in place-even though the guy told me what the problem was. Talk about a fire hazard. Most of the problems were fixed by me, just to avoid the hassle of begging the office to send an imbecile to add further to whatever the problem was.

Unless the place has been raized to the ground, and completey rebuilt since last I shook the dust from my feet of Sedgefield, Do not bother to look there, unless you really want to live in a third-world country.
