a homestead in Georgia that has bugs'!' Shocker...

Umm' Hey kids' If you've never owned a home in the south...bugs become more prevalent during the summer months and, well...they get in sometimes. It's a no brainer. That's why the good Lord made Raid to fill in between monthly "bug man" visits. *renter's disclaimer* only been here two months and signed up for the monthly visits, so we'll see.

The front office seems ok thus far with regards to maintenance issues. Since I've lived in apartments 30 /- years old before, I knew what to expect before moving in and am so far appeased in their response to situations.

Granted, they do show finished apartments prior to move in which look real nice without regard as to your actual place, but I saw the potential for housing my possesions without the need for storage whilst saving me a bit of cash.

As of now, judging by the prior comments, I can say truthfully that they may be a bit of a bunch of whiners, but who knows' I promise to blog a few more times in here as my year long rental agreement progresses...

If you're cool after googling the demographics of this particular neighborhood and think you can deal, then you should be ok...that is...if you can handle the occaisional roach breaching your defenses. :P (and for everyone in here that blanches, I guess you've never been camping...)

I am a former resident who used to work in pest control. German roaches are not endemic to the south and were not affected by the property's pest control. Check into DO IT YOURSELF PEST CONTROL. They have a very effective hormone treatment that is not poisonous (roaches don't adapt to it as they do with pestcides). Re: the rats, make sure the area behind your stove is finished (closed). Also recommend you put every maintenance request or dicussion with the office in writing. Hand your rent to a person and request a signed photocopy of the check a they tend to get lost or applied late. You will thank me later. Don't assume those of us who had a bad experience didn't appreciate the diversity in the community - the problem is the management. Good luck man.

I understand the points you're making and I accept that you just moved in. If a person is used to bug infestations in their home and you've developed a comfort level with it, then Signature Place will seem comfortable. But for people who've lived in dwellings that did not have that issue, Signature Place will be what it is to them - an ill-maintained dump. I've lived in the south for about 23 years - including Hawaii. Yes, the south has bugs and you can BELIEVE Hawaii does. Throw in scorpions, spiders as big as your hand and centipedes. But guess what - 3 years in HI and I NEVER saw a single one of these creatures! Yep, they were all over the place, but they didn't tend to wander into my home. As far as bugs in the south - I owned a house - no bug problem. I've lived in four apartments. The only one that had a problem with roaches under normal living conditions was Signature Place. I lived in a loft that had a three day, unbelievable infestation of roaches only after there'd been an accidental flood in the unit - they love water. No sir, roach infestations are not to be expected as a normal thing. You shouldn't have to cloud your environment with RAID on a regular basis. If you avoid keeping garbage around, wipe down surfaces regularly and avoid abnormally humid conditions, you will only see the occassional bug - in well maintained properties. But at Signature, you're not living in one. Keep your RAID handy. I lived there for four years. The environment was livable when I moved in. I literally watched the neighborhood change. If you're used to living in the ghetto or trailer park, you'll be fine. If you prefer better, this won't be the place for you. You're not camping, this is an apartment. I'm in an apartment now which is only a few years old. Nice surroundings, but guess what? New management - and the demographics are changing. They're practically paying people to move in and it's attracting the wrong element. It's still not as bad as Signature, but this is what happens with greedy management. Signature is already there. I'll be in a house before this place ever gets as bad.

I think its sad that you feel that you deserve to live in bug infestation...and since you enjoy carrying around "Raid" in between monthly "exterminations.."..more power to you. But there are more than some...obviously by the comments ...that would not want to become acclimated to daily living with bugs, nasty neighbors, hebetudinous office staff and poor surroundings. This site is to inform consumers before they move into Signature Place, unfortunately, for you, its too late. But before you rate the apartment...live in it for at least a year before you comment and remember alot of things look good initially. I will leave you with this quote, "Usually, terrible things that are done with the excuse that progress requires them are not really progress at all, but just terrible things." by Russell Baker Good Luck to you and hopefully your experience will be better than mine.

Please, if you have been renting for 30-odd years, then that is sad -- GET A HOUSE. Also, the roach problem is out of control, regardless of what you say. Don't be in denial...the property manager ----- probably wrote that response anyway! They are always trying to cover themselves when they know the truth.

Hmmm??? Ok. To the last responder: Learn to read. I haven???t been renting for the last ???30 odd years???. I???ve lived in a few apartments that are 30 odd years old before and now. I had a house once???funny how PC screws over the innocent more than it does the guilty. But I guess thems are the breaks???It???s so cool paying a mortgage for a house that you???ve only lived in a year. So to you, may I just say STFU?!? Frickin Retard!!! Your village just recalled you??? Hebetudinous office staff? I may have to agree to a certain extent. While I???ve only seen one or two roaches and/or other bugs in 2 months, I have had to endure a total of 6 days (not all at once) waiting on the maintenance crew to come out and fix my A/C, but now that they have replaced my compressor, I doubt that I will have to worry about that particular scenario for the rest of the summer. (Like I stated???this is gonna be a blog. So tune in regularly campers) But when it comes to bugs? Maybe it had to do with your location? I???m on the 2nd (technically 3rd floor as the lofts are below me) floor and thus far???the contemptible can of Raid has sufficed. The kill list has two roaches and a silverfish thus far on the roster. And I leave you with a quote as well???"As the island of our knowledge grows, so does the shore of our ignorance" - John Wheeler So???two months in??? Tune in next month for the next episode in the saga of a guy???

It's ridiculous that any one would consider living with roaches. I understand that bugs "happen". But to accept a can of raid as your defense and think that's ok, your mentals are all screwed up. Just admit to having "Bad credit" and you just kind of get in where you fit in..I wouldn't defend a complex that is not up to par. I live alone and roaches are never welcome into my home. You shouldn't live by "any" means. From the comments I've read, sounds like SP is straight hood. I'm from Compton and I know hood living. I can pretty much handle anything but roaches....NEVER!! Get your mind right, don't accept crumbs. Do your research, you can live better!! Never settle for what you don't want in any area of your life. You are called to live an abundant life..Not to live with an abundance of roaches...Free your mind! Soul7
