Years at this apartment: 2008 - 2009

Hi, I have lived in Westminster for about 6 months now. Let me be the first to tell you (probably not though judging from the other reviews!!) this is NOT the place you want to live. It was myself, my boyfriend, and another roommate moving in from St. Louis, MO. We have had problems since day 1.
First, we didn't get the apartment we signed up for; I specifically said second level was out of the question; they gave me second floor. Roaches have been non stop since day 1 (I'm not nasty or never leave food out), something always goes wrong, such as the front gate being broken or the hot water stops working in the shower as another person said. Every time I spoke with my agent, she would tell me I owed more and more money and explained what it was for, but I always refigured something else. We signed a year lease and I can't wait until it expires. We plan to move out ASAP! The carpet is cheap and has spotted after about 2 months of living here. Like I said, we are clean people and I don't let my roommates track stuff in.
When we moved in, the kitchen was nothing like the display; it looked like 1952 crusted with white paint. There was no bedroom window and wasn't for about a month. The heat didn't work for about 2 weeks. There were black smudges all over the walls from the workers' handprints, the chandalier was hanging crooked, you can stand in front of either doors and feel air rushing in from the outside due to poor insulation. The laundry doors wouldn't open; someone nailed the cheap stick of wood they call crown molding too low on the wall. The light fixtures were disgusting in the kitchen and have white paint splattered all over them. The refrigerator was sitting in the middle of the kitchen floor when we got here. The bathrooms were still taped up from where they had painted only the day before.
My car has been egged, another car of my boyfriends has gotten the fender kicked in (2005 black Pontiac GTO, yeah we were pretty mad!!) and neighbors let their kids sit on and run around them, sometimes they even use them for drink holders!
I could go on and on, but you know what the MANAGER always tells me every time I call' "Oh, I'm sorry, we've just been so busy with the construction and haven't had time to get over there." Seems like a pipe bursts every week. It is very loud with about 15-20 kids from all ages running around in groups screaming at the top of their lungs and running back and forth under the walkway where it echoes and their parents never say/do anything about it. The kids also play football and other sports in the huge parking lot around people's cars and usually hit them; mine has been hit.)
Airplanes...oh me. They constantly fly overhead, and when I say overhead, like 20 feet from the roof!!! You can literally read the number of the plane from your front balcony/porch. And they start at about 7 am and go til 10 or 11 at night sometimes about 3-5 days a week all throughout the day. So sleeping in is a negative, speaking of which, there goes one now!
The speed bumps have only just been repaved and they're so high, I can't get my car over them without scraping underneath or completely bottoming out if I don't come to a complete stop...horrible! (I drive a 4 door sedan luxery car...)
So in other words, any place is better than this. It's not necessarily big things; the apartments themselves look wonderful from the outside and are very attractive, but once you move in, it's an uphill struggle. The bait is out there to lure you in, but don't take it!!! Take it from me and what the other people are saying! Every bit of it's true!

| Ms. McMillen I do apologize for any inconveniences that you may have encountered. I can assure you that my staff and I will be glad to take care of your issues as soon as they are brought to our attention. Unfortunately this is the first time that I have been made aware of an issue pertaining to your apartment home and surroundings. Please contact me directly via email at tpistone@gficap.com and I will be glad to help. I am the Community Manager and it is my job to provide you with the best customer service possible. Also, if there is ever a time that your personal property is damaged please report it to the Business Center so that we can make our Courtesy Officers aware of any situations. I would like to tell you that there is something that I can do about the airplanes but unfortunately I can not, we as well as all of the communities in the area are along the Dobbins AFB flight path. Also, for you as well as other posters/readers please check the dates on the majority of the posts. We purchased the community in May of 2008 and have completely changed things around. Again our system and your file show nothing outstanding and no previous complaints so please contact me immediately so I can send a team to your area to take care of you. I look forward to hearing from you soon. Thank you. Westminster Square Manager | |

So now that your comment has been read by the Community Manager has anything changed? And if not what is still the same? Or has she lived up to her her title? Seeking this complex.

We were offered a renovated unit at the same price which we were going to accept, but things didn't work out on our end in order to do so. Things are a lot better now w/the neighbors gone. I don't know if we'll stay or not at the end of the lease. It's a great location but just not the best area of town, which isn't their fault; we didn't know the area very well upon moving here. You won't find a better laid out apartment and as spacious as these though. They're nice and reasonably priced but every complex comes with ups and downsides. Hopefully this answers your question. If you decide to move in though, please list me as a referral!! Thanks!

So, I've been reading both of your thoughts here and I'm moving out when my lease is up, but you should know that there are A LOT OF CHILDREN here. Many of the places I've lived in (in Atlanta and throughout the U.S) have had children living there, but there is a significant difference from what I'm used to. Depending on what time you leave for work in the mornings, making a left-hand turn out of the complex can be difficult. I've actually been told by a neighbor that her car insurance went up when she moved here because turning left out of the complex is dangerous. However, when I moved here my car insurance went down about $300 because of the part of town that I moved from. It's all relative depending on where you are moving from. I gave a piece of advice in another post, and I'm going to give you the same advice. Look at a few different apartments and come with pre-written questions. You should also look at apartments with someone. They might come up with questions that you never thought of. Then when you go home, relax, take it easy, treat yourself to something special. Look at what you wrote down about each apartment the next day, talk about it with the person you brought and pick the apartment that is best for you and your furniture.
