If you are looking at renting here, read this please. It's long but worth it!
Well, earlier this week I went to Bridgemilll because I was looking for a cheap apartment that in the area. I found Bridgemill on Craigslist. When I called, I talked to Barbie, the owner. I told her that because I am so young, I have no credit. She said there would not be a problem and that she wasn't going to pentalize me for not having credit at 19. So, talking to her I felt almost like I had no choice but to come down. She made it seem so nice. She told me that everyone loves the 1 bedrooms that they are so big and that I cshould bring my checkbook because she already knew I was going to like it. (at the time, the special was $499 a month, no deposit and a $99 app fee per adult).
SO, when I arrived. I had no idea where the rent office was, I had to ask some of the residents that were sitting outside where it was. (it's like in the middle of the complex) So, I arrive and I am greeted to Barbie sitting at her desk. She grabs the keys and we get on the golf cart. We ride all the way to the back of the apartments and she takes me upstairs to a 1 br. (while walking up the steps, I passed a big bucket of half eatin fried chicken that was obviously left over night). She took me upstairs and just showed me the room, the living room the kitchen and the bathroom. She did not give any details about anything or ask me did I have any questions. She just kept talking about how much people liked it. By the way, this was not a sample apartment, the lights were not on, the floor was stained and the blinds were crumpled. We went back down to the cart and on the way back to the office we passed the "playground area"...the slide was disconnected from the top and the whole thing looked like it was about to rot. So, me not knowing any better, I get back inside and pay for both me and my girlfriends application fee, and my girlfriend was to return the next day and fill hers out. I paid for both $198.
Two days later, I brought my girlfriend up there to see the apartment. When we went into the office, Barbie was laying on the couch. She goes "hey girl whats up'" and runs and gets my girlfreinds application to fill out then she just goes into her office. After my girlfriend filled th application out, we literally sat here for 15- 20 minutes just waiting on her to ask if we were down or to even come out of the office. There were two other women that worked there that acted as if we were not even there. One sat at the desk eating popeyes chicken and didn't say a word. I finally walked up to the door and asked her if she could show us the apartment. She said she would just give me the keys and I could go look myself. So. i sat and waited again for another 5-10 minutes then finally one of the other workers asked if we were done and I told her we were supposed to go look at he apartment too. so she gave me the keys and my girlfriend and I went by ourselves to go look at it.
So, we get out of the car and walk up the door, (we both look at eachother because we smelled cats..) then we open the door, flipped the lights on (the electricity was off) there were two couchs stting in the living room... we walk over by the refridgerator and it smelled like mold.. all of the rooms were dark so we couldnt see..again because th lights were off, the blinds n the porch door were crumpled and torn and the carpet was badly stained.
so.. we go back to the rentoffice and I talk to Barbie and she said she would let us know if we get approved or not in he monring. Well she never called, and when i called her around 4 pm she wasnt there and I called again around 5 and no one answered..
So, basically the morale of the story is..go look first and dont pay anything up front. They really just act like they want your money and application fees are not refundable. I did not feel welcomed when I came I did not feel like a client. I felt like I was pestering them..Also, alot of young kids walking around and I heard they have roaches but I didn't see any, thank god!

U are telliing the truth...I agree with you 100%. They are so unprofessional, and all they want is your money. Believe it, there was mold in my entire apartment along with critters... I had roaches, and a mice running around. So, you are not exaggerating.I wish you would checked the ratings before you paid your money. The aparment complex could be nice with changes, updates and a new staff. There is no concern about the renters....

Thank you so much for writing this review. I am looking for an apartment and I already got suckered into one bad complex because I didn't read the reviews ahead of time. I am new to Atlanta and I'm finding that although these apartment managers say they do not accept section 8 applicants they certainly are accepting section 8ish tenants.

The same things happened to my son. he applied, paid application fee and NEVER received a call back. He called for two weeks only to be told "oh you didnt get apartment" and they hung up..no explanation or anything! His father called the complex and the staff was extremely rude!! We called the corporate office..occonner group and filed a complaint as requested application fee back bc we think they had no intentions on giving him apartment. Please file complaint with oconner group!!
