This is the worst Apt. Complex I have ever live in.

Years at this apartment: 1999 - 2003
I currently live at this apartment complex.
I have lived here for 3 years, and feel I have
enough experience to form an honest opinion.
In my Opinion this is the worst apartment complex
I have ever lived in. I have lived in apartments
for well over half my life totaling a little over
17 years. I have lived in crappy apartments in Atlanta,
cheap college apartments, and garages turned into apartments
at the beach. So I have seen a wide range of apartment complexes.
I hope this is not too long.
Parking:
The parking is like a college apartment. At least 3 nights during
the week I have to park 2 to 3 building away from my apartment building,
which is most likely causing the same issue for some one else. On the week-ends
I never park near my apartment.
Maintenance:
In my 3 year at Lakeside I have had the washing machine/Drier, dishwasher,
oven, both toilets, shower break and a yellow jacket infestation.
When the Drier broke I was told the maintenance person would be there
the following day. 3 days later after several calls the office informed
me that a part was needed and had to be ordered. After unknown amount of
calls and 2 months they finally fixed the drier, but the maintenance
person forgot to reconnect the heating element. It took 2 days to get
that corrected.
When the dish washer broke the first time it only took them 3 weeks to fix it
do to having to order the "Part" again. The maintenance person did not place the
dishwasher into the counter snugly and it is noticeable even from the living room.
When the oven started cooking at 200 degrees above the indicated temperature, I bought
an oven thermometer and decide against dealing with the office.
When my guest bathroom toilet broke I contacted the office this was fixed within 3 days
after they had to order "The Part". when the master bathroom toilets broke I went to Home Depot
and bought the part that morning and fixed it myself. again I felt the cost and time I spent my self
would be less troublesome than the office.
The showers constantly drain slowly or do not drain at all, I purchase Draino every 2 week
and after it gets to the point I am standing in 6 inches of water I use the Draino on it,
and start using the guest bathroom until it start the same thing, I have a very short haircut
most people think I am in the military, and my wife has short hair also so I know we are not shedding
that much.
3 month ago the water control handle in the master shower just broke off in my hand, I have elect to
use a pair of vice grips on it and deal with the unsightly pliers rather than deal with the office.
And finally the yellow jackets last spring I noticed a few dead yellow jackets in the living room
after a few days I noticed more and more. I also noticed a few living insects. one night while watching TV
I was hit in the head from one flying around the living room. After some investigating I found that they where
nesting in the walls and using the drier vent to gain access. I reported this and reported this after a few calls
a maintenance person came down and spray the vent opening and said it would kill them. I was constantly told
that there was nothing they could do but spray the vent opening and they would "Take care of it".
After a month of daily vacuuming and several dozen calls something Finally happened. I was told by my wife.
According to the office a maintenance man had to do some unrelated work under the apartment and was
attacked by the yellow jackets. After a week they seem to be iradicated.
Construction/Noise:
I read most of the other reviews here and would have to agree on the fact that the walls are
paper thin. I hear the next door apartment toilet when it flushes I hear every step the upstairs apartment
makes and it sounds as though it is amplified. I know that the upstairs tenant is not jumping around
so I have not complained to him or the office. The master bedroom in the 3 bedroom apartment are next to the breezeway.
If you want to sleep late during the summer you will need to sleep in the guest room due to children playing and
people walking through the breezeway. Children need to play in the summer and people have to walk to and from there apartments
but the walls should be thick enough to shield the tenet from these common noises.
Safety:
As stated I have lived here at least 3 years. In this time the front security gate has worked a total of 6 months.
the front gate has been fixed a total of 3 times. after each repair every one has to go to the office and get the batteries
replace in the remote control and most of the time reprogrammed. the office closed a 6 the last time this happened, and
quite a few people where stuck. The office did not notify anyone that the gate was going back into service, or if they did
they missed my apartment. within a few days or if we are lucky a few weeks some one will break the swing arm. They saw it
down and replace it within a day are so and again within a few days it is broken again. after the swing arm is sawed off to the
point is useless the gate it self is broken so we drive straight in. I do not use the back gate very often but I have never
seen it closed.
Office Staff:
As you can read from the above comments, I am more willing to spend my time and money rather than deal with the office.
they do not appear to care to help anyone except potential tenant. once you are a tenant you are not a concern unless you are
