Lots of Distractions
From: -Anonymous-Date posted: 8/15/2002
Years at this apartment: 2002 - 2003
My husband & I moved into the Lofts in early 2002. We were like everyone else who sees them ? impressed & very interested in the property. The management sells it well. We loved the openness of our apartment and the historic wooden floors and beams. It is a beautiful place if you enjoy that type of residence, as we do.
We only had a few nights where the train (directly behind the building) woke or disturbed us. We still hear it day and night, but we?ve gotten used to speaking up or adjusting the TV volume as necessary. It?s not a big deal once you get used to it, but I am defiantly not going to miss it when we move! That?s for sure!
Upon moving in, we found that our neighbors were very nice. The property was well kept and dogs were on leashes and poop was bagged and tossed in the trash. These things quickly changed. Our upstairs neighbors moved and were replaced by the loudest, most disagreeable people I have ever lived beneath. The woman yells at her child day and night. The child cries. His dog pees on the hardwood floors and it drips down into my apartment (not something that makes me happy). The child bangs on the fire sprinklers (which run from the bottom floor to the top floor in one pipe), so the sound echos throughout the apartment. Every time they burn something, or even light a cigarette, the smell comes into our apartment. It?s very open, and the smells and such do travel from apt. to apt. regularly, so if you don?t want to smell what Joe Bob down the hall is cooking, you probably don?t want to live here.
The once clean grounds have become a doggie poop land mind that you must navigate each time you venture into the parking lot to retrieve your car. Dogs are no longer leashed and on several occasions, I have had them come after me (while walking my dog ? who is ALWAYS leashed outside). The owners do not apologize, or remedy the situation. The management says all dogs must be leashed, but do nothing to enforce this rule. I?m an animal lover, so don?t take this the wrong way ? but animals should be leashed in public. I don?t want my dog fighting my neighbor?s dog. It?s just not my idea of fun.
So to sum it all up for you: If you don?t mind trains, dog waste, loud neighbors, smelling and hearing EVERYTHING your neighbors do, and having to check around every corner to make sure that there?s no unleashed dog waiting to jump you, I recommend this place. If you?d rather live somewhere a tad bit less distracting, I wouldn?t be able to say this was the place.
