An honest review (former resident)

I used to live in this complex and would still live there if not for the fact that I had to leave the state to take care of my ill mother and that my dog died while I lived there and I'm so sentimental and have so many fond memories of him there, I just couldn't bear it...

But moving on...

With any apartment complex, you have your pros and cons.

Cons:

The apartments are older and haven't been renovated, so the appliances may be somewhat older in some of the units. Though I do believe that they are doing their best to replace them when necessary.

Depending on which building you live in, parking late at night can sometimes be an issue. However, although I personally experienced this, the distance I had to walk to my apt was never that big of an issue. Plus, being a single female, I felt rather safe walking around the neighborhood even at night. Even though I felt safe and would come home at all hours of the night and never had a problem, it is important to note that living in an apartment doesn't exclude you from being responsible for your own safety and paying attention to your surroundings. The apartment management cannot do that for you.

Like most apartments, you can hear noise from the outside and ocassionally hear your neighbors. But again, that largely depends on your neighbors and how respectful they are. I didn't know all of my neighbors personally but anytime we interacted everyone was generally very cordial.

Bugs outside. But this is not the apartment complex's fault. There is a lake behind the property so often you will see those big palmetto type bugs scurrying around, but the reality of the matter IS, no matter where you live, in some aspect you are going to have to co-exist with nature. I can say that they didn't usually get in my apartment. I might have had to chase one down one time. Oh and once there was a centipede. But unlike some other places I have read reviews on, it is not roach infested or anything. And even if you were to have a problem with that, I am almost certain that management would be responsive and do something about it.

Pros:

I think quite a few of the staff live on the complex. The neighborhood in general has a really homey feel to it but it helps when you see the staff on a pretty regular basis and my theory is if the staff lives there, it can't be THAT bad!

About the neighborhood being 'homey'. This is one of the things I really liked about the place. It is a very diverse neighborhood full of regular people. So, if you are looking for high class, stuck up society, this isn't the place for you. This neighborhood is relatively quiet at night. Things happen everywhere, but I can't say that too much happened during my one year stay; maybe there was 1 notice, max 2. If things do happen, management will definitely alert you. The surrounding area may be different, but AL does what they can to keep their tenants happy and safe.

I really liked the maintenance staff, especially JR. I didn't really interact with the other guys on a regular basis, but I ALWAYS saw them out and about doing their thing and they were very responsive.

The staff, staff was great. I didn't have to interact too often with the Manager other than my intial move in, but I did communicate pretty often with Rick and he really was just awesome! He is a very no nonsense and straight up individual, which may intimidate some people, but I mean, would you rather have all that fake sunshine blown up your arse in the beginning only to find out later that it was just that' You won't get that at AL. They were just as nice in the beginning as they were when I lived there and when I moved out.

Compared to the surrounding area, the rent is very affordable for what you get. The floorplans are large, so it's balanced with what you get for what you pay, unlike some other properties in the area.

Location, location, location. This place is in a great location. There is access to every major highway and Peachtree Industrial goes everywhere from north to south. My commute to work in the Perimeter area was like 15 minutes easy. And there are so many back roads!

The utilities here are electric and gas and you do have to pay for water. Gas can be expensive in any apartment, but on the plus side, the cooking is electric.

Did I mention the floorplan' My apartment was huge. I had lots of space in general, and lots of closet space, too (major plus).

So that's my review. Usually, only disgruntled people leave comments on these boards, making it difficult for people to make a fair decision on where to check out and live. I would recommend this place for decent people looking for an affordable place in a very accessible location. It doesn't have all the fluff that some other apartments try to charge you for, but overall, it is a quiet, clean, safe, and comfortable neighborhood.

Thank you for reading my review and good luck with your apartment search!
