I'm a current resident who will be leaving soon and wanted to write an honest review to help future residents and maybe help management get things in order because Wesley is a nice property, here goes....
I've been living at Wesley for two years and for the most part it has been pretty decent. I work alot and hang out alot, so my apartment is basically somewhere to sleep. The area has a large Hispanic population so alot of the businesses as far as grocery stores and restaurants are catered to them. It hurt me tremendously when they closed the local Publix. Now it's a Super El Mercado. That's cool, it is what it is.
Pros:
Very nice apartments as far as space and the look for the low price $$.
I like the location being right near 85.
All my neighbors are cool, don't hang out with any of them, but they speak and are generally friendly.
When I had a problem with ants, they responded pretty quickly and the ant bait actually worked
Don't interact with management too much, but they seem cool.
Cons:
Gates never work. They should just take them down. When they are working, traffic is backed up terribly. Call boxes get reset everytime they fix the gate, so you have to get your number entered back in everytime it seems. Also, you have to get your passcard reprogrammed.
The fitness center is in poor condition. Usually stays vandalized. Wouldn't want to touch the equipment. I've seen used condoms on the floor. Obviously the equipment hasn't been used for it's intended purposes.
I'm play tennis. Played on Wesley's tennis court (after my friend and I swept up all of the rocks). Fairly decent court. One net is up, one isn't. Management said they ordered a new net 3 months ago. They need to get the tracking number and track that package. Doesn't seem like it's arrived. Oh yeah, play while the sun is up. Half of the lights are busted.
The grounds and landscape used to be kept up. Now there is trash everywhere. You expect that some people will drop trash being that so many people live in an apartment complex. The problem is when you see the same trash, in the same spots for days and weeks at a time.
Our water and sewage bills doubled. I used to pay 25 a month. Now it is 50. Cool, no problem. The problem about that is, now the trash area looks worse than ever with trash everywhere! Also, I was told that water and sewage went up supposedly from usage and consumption going up. Maybe that's because there are 15 people to an apartment in some of the buildings! I imagine that this will effect our water consumption tremendously! Illegal immigration costs everyone!
Working on cars is also a problem. I can see if you need to change a tire or a headlight, put some oil or antifreeze in your car. I had a neighbor put a new engine in his truck right in front of the building!!! With the cherry picker and everything to lift the engine out. I've seen people out there doing body work, dropping transmissions and the whole nine! If you need some cheap work done on your car. Ride thru Wesley, you'll find someone to do it!
I was standing out front of my building one SUNNY AFTERNOON with a friend who was on his way out. When an obvious drug addict and an obvious unlicensed pharmicist met maybe 3 car lengths away from us in the parking lot and made a drug transaction right in front of us. Notice I said AFTERNOON and SUNNY. They didn't go in the hallway, duck behind a car or anything! WOW! Has anyone seen the WIRE'
Lastly... I have heard gunshots. Not that often but once is too many times in an apartment complex. I'll give Wesley the benefit of the doubt and say they could have came from the neighboring complex (doesn't make it any better, but I'm not blaming Wesley). I've seen police being called out more often for domestic disputes and breakins. Although seeing the Gwinnett CSI van was cool, it was a bit of an uncomfortable feeling because they were at my building.

I feel your pain. I lived there last year......HATED IT. Get out while the going is good, once you have to start interacting with management thats when it will all go to hell in a hand basket. It wasnt all bad, I did get to listen to some good Latin music however I wished it wasnt at 2am in the morning.

Thanks for the honest opinion.
I would enjoy the low price, but not the ???cheap??? environment.
Wesley is definitely not the place for me.

Was just about to get excited about going to view the complex. Thanks so much for your honesty. I won't waste my time now.

I'm also a current two year resident who will be moving soon.
I agree with all of the Pros you listed, except, based on lack of responsiveness from the management, I solved my ant problem myself!
As for the Cons, I haven't personally seen everything you mentioned, but based on what I have seen, I tend to believe everything you say.
I can back you up about the gates, the mess in the fitness center (I don't remember seeing used condoms, but I have seen graffiti on the walls offering sexual favors, and I remember none of the equipment had any power going to them), and I haven't heard gunshots, but I have seen gang graffiti that has stayed on the wall for months.
That's just for starters. I'm going to write my own review soon.
