I rent a privately owned three bedroom condo in ML and would definitely not recommend it. The condos were poorly built and if you have anyone living above you, you can hear every move they make. I'm not just talking about footsteps, which are natural; the ceilings creak so loudly under the weight of my neighbors that it literally keeps me up until they decide to go to bed, only to be awoken by it in the morning. My routine depends solely on the routine of my upstairs neighbors who seem to only need 4 hours of sleep to function. Speaking nicely to the neighbors has not solved the problem and management (AmeriSouth) will not do anything about it.

I have an excessive mold problem (which has left terrible stains for me to paint over), major leaks in the storage closet that have ruined some of my belongings, and had a serious leak from the upstairs condo that ruined our ceilings, created a small pond on our kitchen counters and stained our living room carpet. It took a month for managment to come out, after which they told me the owner would not give them permission to send a plumber out!! Absurd. She doesn't even take care of her own property, let alone make sure her tenants are living in a respectable environment.

The grounds are not kept up (I gave up and planted some grass myself by our back deck) and when I tried to improve the look of our yard area by planting a pretty little garden next to the steps down from the deck (not in a walking area) I was told it was "not uniform." Uniform apparently means dirt yards with dying bushes and last years' dead leaves since, aside from only one other neighbor who defied the rules and put out some plants, that is the landscape of our building.

The lake is beautiful and being so far back from the road is great, but there are enough drawbacks to make me look elsewhere. I am moving out when my lease is up and feel sorry for the poor, soon-to-be sleepless soul who ends up in my place.
