Beware old buildings

We've had continuous rain for about a week, and it's definitely taking a toll on the old buildings. There are reports of roof leaks on some of the top floors, and rainwater is seeping into some of the apartments on the first floor. Maintenance is doing what they can, but they've got a lot of issues and are understaffed. The office is likely swamped as well, as I haven't been able to get anyone on the phone. This property is nice, but there has to be some major renovations done to these buildings. They are fairly old and have serious issues with roofing and foundations that need to be taken care of immediately, and I have my doubts that management will spend the necessary money to do it.
So, either rent an apartment on the second floor, or know that you may get water in your home during the rainy months. Had I known about this before I signed my lease, I would never have moved here.
