Avoid if you are a pet owner or considering being one

I think it's amusing that an apartment complex has the audacity to call itself "pet-friendly" and then proceed to charge a higher than average and completely non-refundable pet deposit of $350 AND pet rent of $10/month/pet. The deposit was just $300 until recently with NO pet rent. I suppose magic elves built an extension to my apartment while I slept that's visible only to animal eyes to justify this pet rent. The pet rent is nothing more than an unnecessary and excessive fee charged by management to add to its bottom line.
If you must live here, make sure that the windows in your apartment do NOT face the parking lot. You won't have to listen to your neighbors stomp up and down the stairs while carrying on loud and disgusting conversation in the breezeway at all hours of the night. The walls are paper thin.
When I moved in my carpet had not been cleaned or replaced from the previous tenant. It was just vacuumed.
Maintenance is the only bright spot in this complex. They are always prompt and courteous.
This is my first and last lease with Grande Oaks. I will definitely not be renewing my lease.

This person is correct when they mention the paper thin walls and loud tenants at all hours of the night. The master bedroom I was in was opposite of the side of the breezeway and it was horrible to sleep at night. This is coming from someone who can sleep like the dead! I always had good luck with the maintenance guys as well, very friendly and courteous. I wasn't aware of the pet fee. The $300.00 or $350.00 sounds right to me and should be non-refundable, but the cost of $10.00 a month is absurd.

Most of the apartments we have looked at charge a non-refundable pet deposit, most in the $250-350 range. You will also find these if you rent a house. I spoke to the exterminator at the house I currently rent about monthly pet rents and he told me that the apartment complexes charge this because they pay the pest guy more to spray for fleas. Seems reasonable to me. If you have pets & don't want to deal with this, buy a house!
