A Great Place to Live

Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2009
This is my second stay here at Grande Oaks. I lived here from 1996-1999 when it was called Legacy Oaks, and I've lived here since 2007. I came back after selling my condo because this is truly a great place to live. First and foremost, the owners of this community have made a commitment to keeping the place looking great. In the last two years, all the buildings were painted, the parking was resealed and the parking lot lines were redrawn, the pool was resurfaced, and the workout room was expanded and upgraded. Second, the inside of the apartments are still nice. The cathedral ceilings (9 feet) leave me feeling like I live in a mansion and they make the living space feel large. That's not an illusion, either, as my apartment is quite roomy. (I have a 3-bedroom unit.) Third, maintenance requests are handled quickly and correctly. The maintenance guys are great -- very knowledgeable and responsible. This is a major plus in my mind. Fourth, the rent is very reasonable and the yearly increases are acceptable ($20-40 range). Fifth, the location of this community is perfect, being that it is near the intersection of Holcomb Bridge Road and Alpharetta Highway. Sixth, I feel safe living here and have never witnessed or had an incident. Since I work evenings and frequently come home around midnight, this last issue is important to me. Seventh, the new management is great. I've never had a problem with any of them and they've been very courteous and responsive to my needs. Eighth, my neighbors are very nice and quiet. Ninth, I like the mix of people that live here -- young people just out of college, families (some with babies, some with elementary-school-age kids, some with high-school-age kids), and even elderly folks. They are of all ethnic origins, too, so the community has an international flavor to me. Such a age mix like this leaves me feeling like I live more in a neighborhood than in an apartment community. Plus, it makes for safer surroundings, I think, and it's a testimony to the fact that people like living here. In summary, I can't understand why Grande Oaks doesn't have a waiting list of 50 or so people to move in here. I can only conclude that this community is one of the best kept secrets of apartment living here in Roswell. Also, I don't have the pest guy do my apartment at all (I don't like the chemicals), and yet I have very few insect issues. About every 3 or 4 months I might see a roach. That is all. The only negative thing I would say about my unit is that the walls are relatively thin. I don't hear my neighbors, but if kids are playing at the pool then that noise has a tendency to come in. All in all, though, I can't say enough good things about Grande Oaks. My hat is off the owners and management of this great community!
