We saw the apartment on the internet and were shown one of the staffs units that had wood floors in the kitchen and entrance way. The unit we were shown looked quite nice but the one we ended up with was not as nice as what we were shown. Soon after moving in our living room carpet would become soaking wet near the back door and around the fireplace every time it rained. Our back door had a whole that small animals and bugs and could easily get into, they finally replaced the door after about eight or nine months. We saw many roaches as well as mouse droppings around the downstairs area. Our air conditioner did not function well, we called maintenance many times, they came out and messed around with it but it never seemed to function for long afterwards. They always need some sort of part for it. We would usually end up with a massive chunk of ice in the closet the hosed the AC/Furnace. The chunk of ice would melt and soak the other side of our living room and then re-freeze. After a hot summer our issues turned to heating. Many calls to the maintenance crew no real success in fixing it. The chunk of ice on the AC pipes was still forming and melting when the heat was on keeping our carpet nice and moist. The upstairs vents barely blew any air out. I spent a good bit of money on heaters.
Two months before the end of our lease we purchased a house and wanted to get out asap due to the heating issues and we did not want our child playing on a wet carpet. When I tried to negotiate our way out of the lease I was told that we did not report the heating issues and that the manager was new and anything that happened in the apartment before she arrived was not her problem. She also explained to me how heating vents worked and why some rooms are warmer than others. She was not very pleasant to deal with and would not return any phone calls to discuss the situation further. I ended up just giving them the money to be done with the whole ordeal.
