Some advice for anyone considering...

Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2006
I moved here without checking deeper into the property, because I had to rush to move out of my previous apartment. So let me say that I take blame for some of the things I don't like about this property. I do have some positive things to say about Aspen Hills.
1. Devon is great. If you decide to rent here, work with her, and her ONLY!
2. Most of my neighbors are nice and friendly.
3. Freebies at IHOP, which is within walking distance.
4. Intrusion alarms in the apartments.
But, with the good also comes the bad, and the ugly.
1. My truck was STOLEN from right in front of my apartment. The office's response: A telephoned apology. Not allowed to break the lease without penalty.
2. There are two sets of gates at the community; there has never been a time where they both worked at the same time. It doesn't matter, gates don't keep anyone out when they could just walk around. Note: Place absolutely NO value at all on the "gated community" feature. If you're concerned about security, look for a fully fenced in community, with employed security guards, intrusion alarms, and a legit neighborhood watch program.
3. The trash compactor has to overflow onto the streets leading into the always open gates before it's collected.
4. Maintenence on the buildings' exteriors is not done on a consistent basis. The apartment buildings look nice from a distance, but take a closer look.
5. Even though the rent is somewhat lower than the average apartment in this area, it should be decreased due to the cost of water and sewer, which I believe may be charged at a flat rate for everyone, regardless of how much water you use, and gas.
6. Speaking of water, you have to let it run for a little while so the color can change from brown to light brown, and finally, gray. Notice that I didn't mention clear. Prepare to clean the tub often.
7. When it rains, there are two pools; one actual swimming pool, and one in the parking lot.
Finally, advice for everyone considering living here:
Make sure to pay up on your car insurance, and invest in a car alarm. Beiing on top of I-285 automatically makes anything you have that looks decent a target. Pretend that the gates aren't there. This way you won't be as disappointed.
In summary, I will obviously be moving, but the main reasons are because of my auto being stolen, and for the same total cost of living (not just rent, but utilities, too), I could be living somewhere else.
