Overpriced and Undermanaged

Years at this apartment: 2002 - 2004

I moved into this complex in November of 2002. I moved into a top floor apartment, and everything went very smoothly. The manager at the time, Dena Restaino, was very helpful, and did a WONDERFUL job of cleaning the apartment before I moved in - apparently the apartment I moved into was used for storage, but as immaculate as it was when I moved in, you would never know it! I lived there until August of 2004, when I decided to transfer to a first floor apartment because it was cheaper - I had had such a great experience living there, I didn't want to move to another complex. The manager at that time, Kristy Gresham was AWESOME! My financial situtaion had changed, and she was extremely helpful and understanding. She got the paperwork going on the transfer, and then suddenly, Ledic Management transferred her to a property in South Carolina! But I tried to remain optimistic since, again, I'd had such a good experience. But unfortunately, things took a turn for the worst - enter Katie Rasheed, the most incompetent, ignorant, and clueless apartment manager I have EVER dealt with! I can't even begin to detail all the crap I've gone through since she became manager - and this new management company, First Communities, leaves a lot to be desired. Again, if I went into detail about EVERY single little thing, I'd probably run out of room to write! So here's the "short" version - the transfer paperwork was already done on 7/15/04. Katie came in claming she couldn't find anything, so I had to go through everything AGAIN! Then, they were still cleaning the apartment the DAY I moved in - 8/14/04! The carpet cleaning guy had to tint the carpet because there were some stains in it that just would not come out. There was siding coming apart from the side of the building on my patio, with cords hanging out (the cords and patio were cleaned up, but the siding is still puckering). I have electrical sockets that still don't work, and a refrigerator that is TOO COLD! Yes, that's right, TOO COLD! If I want something to drink, I have to sit it out and let it thaw!! "Maintenance" has "fixed" the refrigerator twice, but I still have the problem. I had an ant infestation in my bathroom recently, but that's under control now. There was a bug problem when I moved in, but it is much better now as well - although the true test will come around spring/summer as far as that's concerned. My oven didn't work, 2-3 of the eyes on the stove didn't work, there was no shower curtain rod, I still don't have a rod in the coat closet to hang up coats, and now, there is SOMETHING crawling within the walls of my apartment - a rat, squirrel, I don't know. And I just found a crack in the wall above my patio door, thanks to the trail of ants that went from there to the kitchen. I swear, if I had the money, I would've broken this lease a LOOOOOOONG time ago! Let's just say, at this point, I'm counting down the days until I'm out of here! I won't even go into everything I went through trying to contact the management company! Unless they bring back another Kristy Gresham, this complex will keep going in its rapid downward spiral.
