Very nice apartments

Overall, Calibre Brooke is a very nice place to hang your hat. I've been here for a little over a month, and so far I don't have much to complain about. There are a few problems, sure, but you do get a fair bang for your buck.

The good:
1. The apartments are very spacious. The bedroom closets are pretty big, and there are two other closets for storing other things. Aside from the normal rooms you'd expect in an apartment that costs as much in this area, there's also a nice sunroom that makes a great office space or reading room. Every unit has a fireplace too, which is certainly a luxury you don't find often in an apartment in this price range. The kitchen isn't exactly huge, but it should meet the needs of anyone who just needs to do basic cooking.

2. Good soundproofing. I was told the buildings were made with 2 by 6's instead of 2 by 4's, which helps with the noise a lot. I very rarely hear anything my neighbors are doing.

3. The grounds are kept up very well. Gated, has a very nice pool, a workout room, and a laundry center. (has in-unit hookups too, if you prefer to have your own washer/dryer) They do landscaping and pest control pretty much every week, so everything looks nice and you won't see too many insects getting into your apartment.

4. Convenience. It's right off of Cobb Parkway, real close to I-285 and I-75. There are numerous high quality restaraunts and stores, some within walking distance. My personal recommendations - Chinese: House of Chan, Italian: Scallini's (you won't even bother w/ Olive Garden if you try it), Japanese/sushi: Umezono, Mexican: La Paz (one exit down on I-285) As far as stores go you've got your pick. Best Buy, Target, World Market, Cumberland Mall, and more.

The bad:
1. As some other reviews mentioned, it is under the flight path of the airforce base. Flights don't occur that often, but it is kind of loud. On the flip side, the noise is only there for a couple seconds, so it's not like you live next to train tracks.

2. Old appliances. This apartment has been here for a while, and the appliances are a bit dated. However they do work fine, but it would be nice if they'd upgrade them. Also, make sure your dryer has a three-prong plug or that you get a conversion kit from Home Depot. ($15, easy to do yourself)

Personal Experiences - I can't say for certain if the following are good or not, but I can tell you what I've experienced.
1. Staff: I've had no problems with them. They're pretty friendly and have been good at helping me when I need it. I just got out of college, and the leasing agent helped me get approved without having to get a cosigner.

2. Maintenance: I've only needed it once when my AC broke down. The maintenance guy came and fixed it an hour after I reported it. Some other reviews complain about it, but you may be better served if you go down to the office and make the request face to face rather than calling it in.

As I said, this is a great apartment for the price. If I'm not inclined to get a house, I'll probably renew my lease come next year.
