We've been moved in for about a month and so far everything has gone very well. The application process was very smooth and simple. There wasn't the typical pushy sales people that only care about getting your name on the lease. I spent alot of time looking around in the area as there are several other apartments within five miles. Calibre lake was by far the best overall value and the leasing office was the most comfortable to deal with. I was some what hesitant about moving here after reading some of the negative reviews posted here but so far nothing that we've experienced reflects any of the negative comments others have made. Our experience has been quite the opposite.
Our 2bd/2ba apartment is very well laid out (1300 sqr ft roomate floor plan with plenty of storage area) and it seems to be very efficient on utilities. The walk-in closets are really nice to have. Crown molding is throughout the aparment with the exception of the bedrooms and bathrooms. There is a decent sized sun room which has a large closet with shelves which is needed for storing stuff. In the living room there is a fireplace/mantel with in-wall bookshelves on both side. The kitchen is moderately sized. Appliances are old but in good shape still. Washer/Dryer connections in the apartment.
We are on the terrace level and so there are two apartments above us. Noise has not been an issue thus far, now we may just be lucky and have good neighbors above us but the same quietness seems to be consistent throughout the building we're in, meaning I haven't heard any loud music, parties, etc...
I had read several comments about the gate never working. This was a concern of mine. I was in and out ALOT while moving in and I go through atleast 3 times per day and not once has the gate not been closed and working. The only exception is on Saturday and Sunday the gate is open to allow ease of access to the sales office because of the high volume but only for a couple of hours. I also like the fact that you need a push button transmitter like a garage door opener in order to get in, so no code sharing etc... The other HUGH thing I like is that the guest entry system which dials to your phone when someone is trying to get in, WILL accept non local telephone numbers. This was also a concern of mine since my cellphone number is not local. Calibre was the ONLY apartment in the area that didnt use the code system (that everyone and their brother could share) and that would more importantly program to my non local number.
On a different note, the office manager has been extremely helpful in resolving a tv/internet problem that we had been having with Charter. She made several phone calls on my behalf, called her old contact person with charter and made and appointment for him to inspect the problem as well as provided the required written documentation needed to get the issue resolved. This was a huge help to me because I'm a student and working internet is essential for my class work. Honestly, she went way above and beyond my expectations. There is something to be said for her initiative to help me resolve the issue because most people wouldn't have cared. Since we've been here ee have had two minor maintenance requests which were handled same day for one and next day for the other. I was impressed with the timely response considering that the requests were nothing important.
As fas as the outside grounds, everything seems to be taken care of. I dont pay alot of attention to it but it seems like I see landscapers about once a week. The other really nice benefit especially since we're on the ground floor, is the free pest/insect control that is provided free of charge. The contracted company is on the property every tuesday of the week. All i had to do was put in a request to have the inside and outside treated. The company came on the scheduled day, treated the inside and outside, didn't disturb anything. They left a card so I knew someone had actually come. This is not to say I had an issue with insects. I requested the service as a preventative measure and all it took to have done is a phone call. I can also arrange a schedule such as once a month for the service to avoid having any problems. Like I said earlier, it is at no cost to me.
Water is a flat fee of $35/month. Trash is included in rent. There is a large trash compactor at the front of the complex. The clubhouse has a nice looking pool that looks clean. It's winter so I cannot comment much more on that. There is a 24 hr code accessed clubhouse that has a small fitness center, showers, and washer/dryer facility. There are two tennis courts, I've not used them but they seem to be kept up when I observed during the model showing.
To sum up the experience thus far, everything has been wonderful. Honestly, there hasn't been anything negative to comment on other then dealing with Charter. I had always rented a house and never done the apartment thing. I had heard many stories about living in an apartment and so I went into it with pretty low expectations. It was a wonderful surprise to have experienced quite the opposite. If it wasn't for the fact that my move here has been so pleasant, I certainly would not have taken the time to write up this extensive review.

Wow! Very accurate description...I also found that Calibre Lake was the ONLY community that didn't require a local phone number for gate access. And the pool is great. Taking my laptop down to the pool to lay out right now!
