Lived there for 3 months in hell. The apartment made myself and my family very ill. Begged the management to fix it. They hrmed and hawed but did nothing. Called their bosses who were more than rude.
Found out that the building I was in had major mold and that 3 previous residents before complained about the AC and they did nothing with them.
The maintenance man told me to suck it up and that they were likely going to sell the place soon anyways to a condo developer.

I heard on Handel on the Law that any apartment with unlivable conditions (mold, no heat in winter, no A/C in summer, etc.) is one for which you DO NOT PAY YOUR RENT until the landlord provides you w/ one that is livable. They must either fix the problem or put you in another apartment that is acceptable. Also, for mold you should report them to the board of health; they'll get a lovely little notice & fine for it. I bet you didn't do any of these things....
