Aggressively Incompetent Staff

Years at this apartment: 2003 - 2004
Yes, it's true, they did change management, but the new bunch was even worse than the original owners. First of all, they rented to me without warning me that they would be beginning a full blown renovation the very next month. For the next year I received letters on my door warning me that strange people would be working in my apartment the next morning and that I should move all of my furniture because they would not be held responsible for any damages (on the contrary, they will try to hold YOU responsible when it comes time to return your deposit). The work crews repeatedly tracked in dirt, drank my soda, pissed on my toilet seat, and broke things.
Don't bother to report anything to the office, because you'll never talk to the same person twice. I swear they had more turnover than the average McDonalds. The staff makes appointments and then doesn't show up. They don't record maintenance requests (my bathroom ceiling collapsed and they didn't fix it for the last three months I was there, despite the fact that their workers were in and out of the apartment all the time). The staff recorded my discount incorrectly in their computer. Sounds like a small problem, right' WRONG! For the next four months they accused me of short-paying my rent and threatened me with eviction. Every month I had to take time off work to show them MY COPY of the lease (they lost theirs) to prove that I had payed the correct amount, on time. Every time they told me that they were sorry, they had fixed the problem, and that it wouldn't happen again. Just like Charlie Brown and the football, every month they would send me another letter and then apologize that the person who screwed up no longer worked there. To top it all off, the manager (you would think that at least the manager would be a professional) sent me a letter saying that they had lost the keys to my apartment. Unless I provided them with a new set of keys they would break in the door, change the locks, and charge me $25.00 for the service. I swear I'm not making this up! It was like being trapped in some bizarre parallel universe! If you still decide to move here, do yourself a favor and demand a unit on the end of a building, on the top floor, and as far away from the streets and convenience stores as possible. Unless, of course, you enjoy Norteno music blaring from the pickup trucks so loud that it shakes your windows.
